Eternal Youth

In the dead of night, a woman runs, panting with fear, through a remote forest, being pursued by a mysterious figure in a jumpsuit. When the woman stops, out of breath, the figure catches up and starts threatening her. The woman calls the figure "evil," and the figure shoots back, "Evil, Mrs. Thomas? I don't control a company that leveled a thousand year-old-forest for a strip mine!" Then the figure sprays Mrs. Thomas with some kind of chemical. There is a creaking sound, and Mrs. Thomas becomes completely petrified.

The next day, at Wayne Manor, Bruce Wayne has an angry phone conversation with a Wayne Enterprises director who made an unauthorized deal with a slash-and-burn operation in the Amazon Rain Forest. ("Shut it down, or you're gone!')

Alfred answers the door to his sometime-girlfriend, artist Maggie Page, whose morning jog has taken her past the Manor. Though pleased to see her, he is a little embarrassed by her open flirting in front of Bruce. While sorting through the mail, Alfred finds a promotional DVD from something called the "Eternal Youth Spa." On it, two pretty young women, Lily and Violet extend Bruce a personalized invitation to a free weekend at the spa. Bruce says he's too busy, but suggests that Alfred and Maggie go in his stead. Alfred stiffly declines, but Maggie is delighted and drags Alfred along with her. ("I've been Shanghaied" he grumbles).

When they arrive at the spa and announce they are there to take Bruce's place, Lily and Violet confer with their boss, hidden in the shadows. The boss tells the girls to let them in – someone has to pay for Wayne's crimes.

The new guests at the spa are treated to a welcome lecture from the spa's founder, Dr. Daphne Demeter. She has invented a new compound, "Demetrite," which has been imbued into the spa's food, drink, water, and air, and has miraculous restorative properties. Alfred does not hide his skepticism, but is pleasantly surprised by the tastiness of the water and fruit samples they are offered.

Bruce is informed that several prominent industrialists, including Mrs. Thomas, have disappeared mysteriously. In her apartment, Batman finds another promotional DVD for the spa. He calls Alfred at the spa, who duly inquires about Mrs. Thomas and is told she left unexpectedly a few weeks earlier. Alfred adds that he is having a wonderful time, and will return to the Manor a new man.

Indeed, when Maggie drops Alfred off after their weekend, he bids her a fond goodbye, complete with a kiss on the cheek. Later that day, Batman pulls the Batmobile into the Batcave and is taken aback to see Alfred decorating the cave with potted plants. Now a firm believer in Demetrite, Alfred takes a dose in a glass of water, and suggests that Bruce do the same. However, he suddenly sways, feeling faint, and Bruce has to help him upstairs into bed. Suspicious, he takes a sample of the Demetrite for analysis.

The next morning, Alfred rises from his bed, takes in the morning sunshine, and instantly feels better. He sees Maggie outside his window, and they agree that they are sharing the same thought – they want to return to the spa. They do so, telling Dr. Demeter about what a difference she has made to them. With a sinister smile, Demeter motions Lily and Violet forward, who spray Alfred and Maggie with chemicals, petrifying them.

In the cave, Batman tests the demitrite by mixing it with the plasma found in the human bloodstream. It causes a violent chemical reaction, and an immense vine immediately grows out of the test tube. Batman runs upstairs and finds Alfred gone, and takes off for the spa.

Entering the spa's cathedral-size greenhouse at night, Batman is surprised and taken prisoner by Violet and Lily. Then "Demeter" reveals herself as Poison Ivy. The Demetrite, she reveals, is a special growth enzyme extracted from a rare South American tree she has cultivated. With it, she has produced her "collection" – her victims, all of whom own companies that have committed some environmental crime, and all of whom have now been transformed into humanoid trees. After several more sprayings, the transformations will be permanent. She claims to be after Bruce Wayne for his part in the slash-and-burn operation (not knowing it was actually one of Bruce's directors), but for now is content with his friends. She shows him Alfred and Maggie among the trees, enraging him.

Ivy says that she and Batman should be on the same side – they both punish evildoers. Batman tells her what he thinks of that, and she orders Violet and Lily to spray him with a triple-strength mixture that should transform him almost instantly. But it doesn't work, and Batman advances, explaining that he analyzed the Demetrite and coated his suit with a tailor-made herbicide. Violet and Lily back away, still spraying, but Batman subdues both of them. Ivy somersaults through the branches, firing her crossbow at Batman. One of her arrows misses and shatters a flask in her laboratory, spilling the enzyme onto the earth floor of the greenhouse. Instantly, an enormous tree grows out of the ground at an accelerated rate, scooping up Ivy and her henchwomen in its expanding branches and ramming a hole in the greenhouse ceiling.

Ivy's victims are treated, and Alfred and Maggie share some rest time at the hospital. Bruce enters with a flowerpot to brighten their room, and both Alfred and Maggie recoil.

Girl's Night Out

A prison truck from Metropolis is entering Gotham City. The prisoner is Livewire, on her way to experimental treatments at GothCorp that may succeed in returning her to normal. However, the truck drives past a recent road accident, where a power cable has fallen to the ground. The truck passes close enough to let Livewire absorb its power, and escape. Batgirl is driving the Batmobile, searching the city for Livewire. Over the radio, Batman tells her he'll be back in Gotham in two days, and will try to get her some backup in the meantime. Batgirl isn't worried, assuming Livewire is already heading back to Metropolis... until she spots Livewire skimming along some power cables. Livewire spots Batgirl and immediately lands on the Batmobile's hood, sending current through the body that shocks Batgirl. In Metropolis, Kara is house-sitting for Clark Kent while he's out of town. On the phone with her foster mother, she reports that, much to her disappointment, crime in Metropolis is slow that week. Then Batman telephones the apartment, asking for Clark Kent. Without giving his name, Batman advises Clark that Livewire is loose in Gotham, and if Kent wants to "get on top of the story," he should head there, immediately. With Superman gone, Kara immediately assumes her Supergirl outfit and flies to Gotham. Batgirl manages to escape the Batmobile by ejecting, landing safely in Gotham Park. Livewire lands in the park and begins tossing electric blasts, but all Batgirl can do is dodge acrobatically. Livewire finally nails her with one and is about to shock her to death when Supergirl appears, grabs Batgirl and flies off. But another blast from Livewire drops them both out of the sky. Livewire is about to kill both of them, but then her power runs down. She disappears. "Welcome to Gotham," Batgirl says, by way of greeting.

As the GPD mobilizes to capture Livewire, Harvey Bullock reproaches the girls for letting her get away. He is in the unusual position of asking for Batman's whereabouts, and telling the two "amateurs" to stay out of their way.

Supergirl fumes, but Batgirl encourages her that together they are more than a match for Livewire. In a defunct zoo garden, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn are sharing hideout. Harley is itching to get out and have some fun, but Ivy says they can't draw Batman's attention until they have "an edge." Then Livewire appears out of their toaster and proclaims, "Ladies, meet your edge!"

The new villainess team goes to a closed shopping mall, to loot the cash machines and raid the stores. Batgirl and Supergirl arrive and catch Livewire alone, managing to incapacitate her with a coating of electric-resistant silicate dust. However, Harley and Ivy join in. Harley knocks Batgirl into an open elevator, while Ivy tosses plant spores that sprout vines powerful enough to give even Supergirl pause. While Harley helps Livewire to their getaway car, Supergirl finally frees herself of the vines. Ivy tosses another set at Batgirl, but Supergirl incinerates them with her heat vision – inadvertently releasing a poisonous cloud of pollen that forces Supergirl to grab Batgirl and fly her to safety, while the villainesses escape.

To celebrate, Harley drags Ivy and Livewire to the Iceberg Lounge, but Livewire can't be near so much water. As they argue, Penguin appears and orders them to leave. Smiling, the girls suddenly fuse into a close-knit team and start wreaking havoc. Later, Batgirl and Supergirl approach a frazzled Penguin at the empty Lounge, and Penguin mentions hearing rumors about where Ivy and Harley's hideout is...

They enter the zoo, Batgirl carrying a tank of silicate to incapacitate Livewire. But Ivy's plant-based warning system tips off the villainesses, and Ivy quickly relieves Batgirl of the tank. Comically, Harley knocks herself out by firing her spring-loaded boxing glove at Supergirl from behind – where it bounces harmlessly off Kara's head, shoots back and hits Harley. Ivy wrestles Supergirl to the ground with her plants, while Livewire attacks Batgirl. Batgirl shields herself from the electric blasts with a garbage pail lid. Vexed, Livewire fires a souped-up blast, which ends up setting Ivy's plants on fire. Desperate to save her "babies," Ivy releases Supergirl and climbs to a water tower, releasing a stream of water that puts out the fire, but shocks Livewire unconscious. The tower then collapses, knocking Ivy out. Later, at Barbara's apartment, the two super-heroines have treated themselves to a makeover and a pint of ice cream each, as they watch coverage of their success on the news. When interviewed, Bullock grudgingly admits that the two heroines have "some potential." Considering the source, Barbara and Kara recognize high praise, and share a resounding high-five.

Scout's Dis-Honor

As Harley Quinn laments drifting through life, not contributing anything, a knock comes at the door. She answers it, and finds a Mandy Scout selling cookies. After she grabs the box and begins eating the cookies, Poison Ivy is surprised to learn that Harley used to be a Scout herself, although she claims that the cookies were the only good part. Ivy decides that someone should teach those girls some "valuable" life skills, and Harley agrees.

It's not long before Harley has formed a group of "Harley Scouts," all of whom dress like her and follow her twisted moral outlook. Batgirl interrupts the meeting, and when Harley points out that she daren't hit a little girl, she reveals that she brought some "help": the Mandy Scouts. As the girls battle around them, using their badge-begotten skills to considerable (if comical) effect, Harley Quinn fights with Batgirl and successfully subdues her. That being accomplished, she begins to sneak off with the money and cookies - but is caught in the act by both the Harley and Mandy Scouts, who descend upon her...

With Harley Quinn tied to a chair, Batgirl provides Law-And-Order merit badges for everyone in the shape of black-and-yellow Bat-crests.

Catsitter

Harley and Ivy survey the wares at Spencer's Electronics - specifically, a big-screen TV. Ivy claims that it's beneath her to steal electronics, but Harley wants to buy it. When Ivy asks who would hire her, she seeks out Catwoman, who insists that she works alone. On the other hand, she's going out of town, and needs somebody to take care of a kitten named Bongo. She's sure they'll become friends.

Harley duly begins to care for Bongo, a hungry young lion. It's not long before he makes it clear that he wants to go out, so Harley takes him out in a baby carriage, complete with pacifier. After surprising at least one woman on the street, while Harley is looking the other way, Bongo chases a dog in another direction, forcing Harley to run after him.

The chase takes them through Sam's Fine China, up a tree, and in the middle of traffic, wearing Harley down physically and mentally, leaving them both growling at each other. That night, Catwoman arrives home, and finds Harley and Bongo curled up together on the sofa.

The Three Babes

Harley Quinn sits, bored, in a holding cell where Poison Ivy and Catwoman are both asleep. After failing to elicit a response from Catwoman, she bothers Poison Ivy for a story. She tries "Jack and The Beanstalk" but Poison Ivy responds she hates; then Harley tries "Sleeping Beauty" and "Princess in The Pea" but Poison Ivy dislikes those stories as well. In the end, they go with "Goldilocks".

Ivy tells the story of the "Three Babes" (herself, Harley and Catwoman) going on a walk to let their food cool while "Goldilocks" (Batgirl) invades their house. She discards Catwoman and Ivy's food in favor of Harley's, goes through a similar routine by sitting down in their chairs... and then Catwoman hurries her through the "bed" segment to the part where they catch her. Goldilocks tries to escape, but is dragged back and thoroughly beaten up by the Three Babes. She finally manages to flee the scene, and is never seen again.

Harley applauds the story, Catwoman is ambivalent, and Batgirl arrives at their cell to express her approval at "a happy ending."
