Gone

Gone, are all of my friends,
Their lives have met tragic ends.
From falling from the buildings that scrape the sky,
To some who never tried.

Their breaths are gone,
Mine remains.
A broken bond,
I can’t be sane.

Through the dark comes the light,
My eyes beheld a wondrous sight.
From my chest a feeling arose,
It traveled from my head to my toes.

I came to know one called Mandy,
A name I find very dandy.
She entered my thoughts and banished my fears,
For a dog I held her dear.

The time too quickly came,
That I couldn’t see her again.
This cycle repeats endless times,
To all humans, I wish I were blind.
