Pokemon Jukebox! - Route 4 (RBY)

Guess who completely forgot that yesterday was Thursday~!

But anyways, let's take ourselves way back to the first generation. Let's go to Route 4!

So you've finally made your way out of Mt. Moon, and you're ready to challenge Cerulean City's gym! And what music greets you when you step outside but this!

The opening fanfare and the repetition of just the one note and the drums sets you up for something epic, and the rest of the song does not disappoint! This music is inspiring in all aspects; it's one of those melodies that you can play anywhere to make your tasks that much cooler. Walking down the street getting a bit too boring for you? Just blast this behind you and immediately you're off on a great adventure! My favorite part of the song is at :19. I absolutely love how the melody takes off there; it makes me want to sing along! I also love the drums. They may be repetitive, but they set the feeling of a march and drive the song along.

The song appeared yet again in the remakes FireRed and LeafGreen with the same inspirational tune!

Well, that trill at the beginning made me incredibly happy. I also really like the horns in the background: that was definitely a third generation thing. Also, I love that they repeated my favorite melody section in this version. The repetition sounds almost like a sadder echo, but in a very good way. I also enjoy the added cymbal rolls to the same, reliable drum track, and the bass does a very good job of adding to the main melody. It was weird; I was singing along some harmony notes to the original version, and the bass picked up almost all the harmony that I was doing in this version! Overall, this is a great remix.

Here's our fan remix~!

I have a soft spot for this song on piano. It just sounds so right there. I don't know why, because I would have never considered the piano an instrument capable of capturing the same epic essence of this song. But this sounds excellent. Those deep notes coming in at :05 made me incredibly happy and I don't know why. The remix adds in something new with every verse, so it never gets old. I absolutely LOVE the counter melody added in at :53. I think I would like to add lyrics to this song just so I could sing that counter melody under the original. I wish that there had been more thought given to the ending; it just kinda...ends... But other than that, I really love this piano remix! I can actually kinda play this song on the piano myself, but I have a different arrangement, and it's part of a medley anyway.

Well, til next time, ciao~!
