Major X & Y News Dump

There's been a lot of new news concerning Pokemon X & Y revealed today on Serebii.net. And I've only now just gotten time to post about it. So here are the real major news updates.

Mega Evolutions

Our top story today, two new Mega Evolutions have been revealed. One is a new form for the Dragon Pokemon, Garchomp. The other is a second Mega Evolution of Mewtwo. That's right, Mewtwo is getting a second Mega Evolution in addition to the one revealed in the recent Pokemon Movie. Each evolution, or rather the Mega Stone that triggers these evolutions I assume, are exclusive to a certain game. The newly revealed evolution, called Mega Mewtwo X, is exclusive to Pokemon X and is a duel Psychic/Fighting-type. The other Mewtwo evolution, now known as Mega Mewtwo Y, is exclusive to Pokemon Y.

New Pokemon

A whole bunch of new Pokemon have also been revealed. The most notable of these are the middle stage evolutions of the new region's three Starter Pokemon. There's also a new Normal-type Dog Pokemon that apparently has a customizable appearance. Also revealed is a new Psychic-type Cat Pokmon that has distinct male and female difference is both appearance and attacks. The male of the species is more oriented towards support, while the female is more geared towards attack. Finally, the region's two Fossil Pokemon have been revealed. One is a Rock/Dragon-type based on the T-Rex (finally!), and the other is a Rock/Ice-type based on the Diplodocus and has an ability called Freeze Skin that changes Normal-type moves into Ice-type moves and increases their power. At the moment, all the U.S. names of these new Pokemon have yet to be revealed.

Fairy-Type Details

Some of the strengths and weaknesses of the new Fairy-type have finally been revealed. In addition to being strong against Dragons, Fairy-type moves are also super effective against Fighting and Dark Pokemon, but are not effective against Fire, Poison, or Steel Pokemon. In addition to that, Fairy Pokemon are weak against Poison and Steel-types, and have a resistance to Fighting, Dark, and Bug-type Pokemon. But the biggest news is that Fairy Pokemon are completely immune to Dragon-type moves. So it looks like Ice Pokemon are no longer going to be a trainer's primary weapon against Dragons.

Team Flare

Lastly, some minor details have finally been revealed about the games' own evil organization, Team Flare. The team is reported to have five prominent scientist characters in their ranks, and their ultimate goal is to create what they term as "a beautiful world". At the moment though, just what the group's definition of beauty is has yet to be revealed. But considering the goals of all the evil organizations that came before Team Flare, I'm sure nothing good can come from what their planning.

That's pretty much it for now. I'll keep my eye out for any more updates, so stay tuned.
