ARC-V Rant (Hulk Smash!)

I just watched the final episode of Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V just a moment ago, and... I was not pleased. Be warned that the following rant contains some spoilers for the final episode. So if you haven't seen it yet, you might want to stop reading now.

RANT STARTS HERE

The following video clip pretty much illustrates how I feel after seeing the ARC-V finale. It's a bit long, but it's the best I could find.

So yeah, the short way of putting it is that I'm rather ticked about how the episode ended. Here's what happened. Yuya defeated his arch rival, Reiji. This caused Reiji's younger brother Reira to smile, which prevented the second coming of Zarc. Then Yuya's love interest, Yuzu came back somehow because of Yuya's victory. Then... that was pretty much it. The end of the episode seemed to imply that Yuya was about to have a duel with his father, but nothing more. Well, I'm glad that things turned out well for Yuya and Yuzu at the end, but I do have this one issue about this ending...

WHY THE HELL WEREN'T YUYA AND YUZU'S COUNTERPARTS FROM THE OTHER DIMENSIONS REVIVED?!!!

I'm sorry for going all caps there with that question, but I'm simply outraged that those other six characters were more or less killed off. Well, in a way they weren't because the other three Yu's and Bracelet Girls exist as part of Yuya and Yuzu respectively, but it still totally blows! I mean a major part of the reason why I got so invested in ARC-V was because of Yuya and Yuzu's Synchro Dimension counterparts, Yugo and Rin. For months I had been eager to see how their story turned out, but it's like their story was more or less abandoned like it didn't mean a thing! Then there was Yuzu's Fusion Dimension counterpart, Serena. She was such a strong an interesting character, and it seems like she was tossed in the trash for no good reason. It's like... why bring in these characters at all if this was what was going to happen to them?!

This is like the ending to Gurren Lagann all over again! I cannot totally put into words how ticked off I am about this. Well... at least Yuya's new Odd-Eyes Wing Dragon monster was pretty cool.

END OF RANT

Well, I got that out of my system. Bottom line: the final episode of ARC-V was a major disappointment. Hopefully the upcoming Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS anime won't be anywhere near as bad. In the meantime, I plan to do a more coherent review of ARC-V later this week. Until then, here's a video featuring the sad end theme to the Incredible Hulk T.V. series.
