Scene: 18--. Small town. Horse-drawn carriages. A young man, LIGHT YAGAMI, sits in one carriage with a small rod in his hands. Attached to that rod is a string, weighted down by an apple. An unseen entity, strapped into the apparatus designated for the horse, pulls the wagon as the apple bounces tantalizingly before him/her/it.
LIGHT YAGAMI: (whispering) Stupid Shinigami. Doesn't he realize he can just slip out of the harness and GET the apple himself?
