Tori

Long ago, humans and Toris use to live together in peace. The Toris were an ancient race of beings, half human half bird, and were highly intelligent. Their life spans were also longer than a humans, infact, unless they were killed by an unnatural cause, they didn't die. Toris had advance medicine that cured most diseases, so dying of an illness was alomst unheard of.
They had healthier living conditions, advance technology, and no army. Toris hated fighting, and the pain that comes with it. They avoided wars at all cost, and tryed to keep the peace. The Leader of the Toris was Xander, his feathers were a beautiful gold, and all of his subjects adored him.
But the rulers of other kingdoms saw him as weak. Xander had such advance technology that he could build a powerful army, and could easily take over other kingdoms. Another kingdom wanted this power, and sought to take advantage of Xander having no army, and annex his kingdom into its own. The Tori kingom had sat upon the shore of the pacific ocean; being surrounded by water would make it an even easier target. The ruler of this kingdom was called Hadrianus. He was a horrible dictator, and many people feared him. He built up his army and prepared to wage war against the Toris.
Now just because the Toris didn't have an army didn't mean they were completely defenseless. Xander had assigned four Toris to the duty of being a guardian. Each one possessed the power of an element; water, fire, wind, and earth. They were stationed at the four gates of the city to guard and protect the city from any possible threat.
After months of preparation, Hadrianus was finally statisfied with his army. He would declare war at the first sign of light the next day. Miles away in the Tori kingdom, they were celebrating the birth of Xander's first born child. It was a healthy baby girl, and she had the most beautiful silver feathers. Xander had thrown a feast to celebrate this good news.
Hadrianus's soliders were marching under the cover of darkness, stopping a mile short of the Tori kingdom, and there they lied in wait for the sun to rise. At the break of dawn, the soliders smashed through the eatern gate.
They set houses on fire; the toris fled from their homes screaming. The soliders waited for them in the streets, and attacked them the second they were out of the house. The guardians tryed to extinguish the fires, but the fires spread, and the screams of their people was to much for them to handle. They were not prepared for battle, and could not handle the hardships that came with it.
Xander was outraged, he had been betrayed. Xander walked out to the balcony that over looked his kingdom. He cursed the humans; one day his people would return, and have their revenge. Their revenge on the greedy, selfish creatures that called themselves human. They would return to see if they were still full of greed and haterd, and if so, they would destroy every last human.
With his last words, he lifted his arms into the air and brought waves crashing down on his kingdom, extinguishing the fires and washing away the enemy soliders. He began to break away the land of his kingdom; separating it from the rest of the world. Water rose and surrounded the kingdom, dragging it below the sea to never be seen again.
Hadrianus's men returned home to their kingdom and informed him of what had happened. This news filled Hadrianus with fear; he had brought the wrath of the Tori king. He feared the return of Xander and his people, and spent the rest of his days in fear. Until one day, he disappeared, and he was never saw again.
The memory of the Toris began to fade away over time. What once had brought fear to humans, was turned into nothing but a fairy tale, to be enjoyed by little childern. But the day would come, when the Toris return to pass judgment on the humans. Will they pass? Or shall fail?

Chapter 1
Grandpa closed the book, we were sitting on the couch in front of the fire. He had just finished reading to me the story of the Toris.
"Read it again grandpa, please! Just one more time." I begged, gripping my hands together. My grandpa let out a warm laugh.
"I'm sorry Alex, but its time for bed. Its already past your bed time, and 8 year olds need their sleep. It helps them grow big and strong." He picked me up, and carried me into my room.
He laid me down, and tucked me into bed. He kissed me on the head, and said, "Sweet dreams Alexander."
As I drifted off to sleep, I dreamt of meeting the Toris, and playing with them. We were in a field of wild flowers, when the sky turned dark and the ground disappeared. I fell into water, and began to drown. While I was choking on water, the Toris flew in circles above the water, pointing and sneering at me.
I awoke frightened. I climbed out of bed, and ran down the hall to my parent's room. I knocked on the door, and pushed it open slowly.
"Mommy? Daddy?" I whimpered into the dark room. A bed side table was flicked on, and my mom was sitting up.
"Are you okay? What's wrong?" she asked me.
"I had a bad dream, i was drowning, and no one would help me." I replied walking over to her. She pulled me up into the bed.
"Its okay now. You can sleep with us. Your dads an excellent swimmer; he'll protect you." And with that she pulled up the cover, turned off the light, and we went to sleep.
