FWIT: Elements Within

Chapter 2: Reunited

It was a week after their free fall over America from the Patch's Jumbo Jet. Yoh, Ren, Ryu, and Horohoro had made good time and had made it to Mesa Verde. Yoh was hoping to run into the girl he had met at the naval base.

Ryu looked down at Yoh. "Where to now, chief?" he asked.

Yoh replied, "We're going to those cliff ruins by Mesa Verde. I believe that may hold a clue to where the Patch Village is."

Ren huffed. "We should go tomorrow," he said. "It's getting dark."

Yoh agreed. "That's true." They started for a near by motel when, suddenly, Yoh caught the aura like burning fire. He looked wildly around.

Horohoro looked at him as if he was crazy. "You okay, Yoh?" he asked.

"I thought I felt something familiar," Yoh replied, still looking around. Then he saw where it was coming. There was a girl with long brown hair wearing a coat. Yoh ran up to her, ignoring the surprised cries from his friends.

"Hey!" Yoh called out. The girl turned to look at him, confused. She then noticed him.

"Oh!" she mouthed.

When Yoh caught up to her, he noticed that she was accompanied by two other people who turned to look at him as well.

"Oh! Your the one I bumped into!" she exclaimed.

"Wow," Yoh said, casually. "What a small world. Your in the Shaman Fight?"

"No," she replied.

"Kara, do you know him?" said the taller of the two that were accompanying the girl.

"Sort of, Yugi," she replied to the boy. Yoh noticed that the smaller figure that had concealed himself in a cloak was staring up at him.

"Hey, Kara," said the hooded figure. "I think we found Thunder."

Yoh became slightly puzzled. Thunder? he wondered.

"Yoh! Why did you run off?" came the voice of Horohoro. Yoh's three companions caught up to him.

"I was just catching up to her," Yoh said, pointing to the girl named Kara.

Horohoro grinned mischievously. "You better be careful or your fiancée will get mad!" he teased.

"Why don't we introduce each other in a better area?" the boy suggested. Yoh agreed while Ren and Horohoro looked at them suspiciously.

It didn't take them long to get a couple of rooms that were cheep.

"Why are we with these people?" Ren asked Yoh in a low voice. "Their our enemies!"

"Nope!" came the voice of the girl. Yoh and Ren jumped a few feet into the air. "We are all allies here! We're not in the Shaman Fight and we're allies of the Thunder Element and his friends!"

When their hearts slowed down to average speed, Ren questioned her. "If your not in the Shaman Fight, then why were you at the naval base?"

"We're tagging along," she explained. "We three have a job that deals with one of the participants."

"Job? What kind of job?" Horohoro inquired.

"More destiny than job," the boy replied. "Why don't we first introduce ourselves? I'm Yugi Motou."

"I'm Yoh," Yoh said, taking Yugi's hand smiling cheerfully.

"What are you doing?!" Horohoro shouted.

"Meeting our new allies!" Yoh replied, looking back at the blue haired boy.

Yoh met the other two. The girl was named Kara and the hooded figure was Sonic.

Ren refused to give his name. "How do we know you're not with Zeke?" he accused.

"Don't worry, we're not with Zeke," Sonic assured them. His voice was smothered in acid.

"We're against Zeke," Yugi added. "We want to stop him from destroying all the non-shaman humans."

"Yes," Kara replied. "I know you guys are against Zeke as well. Enemy of my enemy is my friend."

"What exactly is you destiny?" Yoh asked. "And what is this 'Thunder' thing you mentioned?"

"I'll explain from the beginning," Kara said. "The Thunder is one of four Sun Elements that were born to stop the Moon Elements from destroying the world. Zeke is one of the Moon Elements– respectively the Moon Fire Element– my opposite. Each Element can control their own element– fire, ice, wind, or thunder."

"So, you guys have a bone to pic with Zeke," Horohoro said.

"Yes, it's not just because of destiny. I also have some personal business to take care of with him," Kara answered.

"Who is Thunder, then?" Ryu asked.

Kara, Yugi, and Sonic pointed at Yoh. "Yoh is the Thunder Element."
