Chapter 3: Dark Ice
Yugi stopped in the doorway of the living room. Near the broken wall stood four figures. One was a blue hedgehog that just a tad shorter than he was, a boy with dark hair and a smiling relaxed face, and a young blonde girl that sneered at them.
"Zeke!" Kara growled. A red and yellow dog ran up to her and barred its teeth at the two new comers. The Spirare that Yugi got barred it's fangs at Zeke and the blonde. The blue hedgehog back towards Kara and Yugi.
This must be the Wind Element,
Yugi thought, examining the blue hedgehog. It wore a white bandana around its head and a white sash around his torso. On its back were two white wings.
Yugi nearly gasped. That's Sonic the Hedgehog! The little blue hedgehog is the Wind Element! Yugi had watched the new enough to know who the speedy blue hedgehog was.
"You found the Sun Ice Element already? Only two weeks ago, you found Sonic," Zeke said politely. "So the Ice Element is Yugi Motou. What a turn of events. Why don't we test out how the others work Lain?"
"Of course, Master Zeke! I'll take care of them ALL!" she laughed. "They won't stand a chance against me!"
"No," Zeke said to the blonde named Lain. "You can take Sonic and Yugi. Kara is strong enough to fight me."
"Hey! What are we then?" Sonic barked furiously.
"You would be better to fight Lain then to battle no one, right?" Zeke said cheerfully. Yugi found this nearly sickening. He might as well talk about death of a friend is a tea party! Yugi noted.
"Why you–" Sonic began but was cut off by Kara as she put a restraining hand in front of him. He looked up at Kara, confused.
"You guys take Lain," she instructed Yugi and Sonic. "I'll be able to handle myself. If you fight him, you won't stand a chance!"
"But what about us all fighting?" Yugi said.
"If you guys decide to fight with me, Lain would only knock you aside. It won't matter either way," she answered grimly. "Zeke wants to only fight me."
Sonic glared at Zeke but agreed with Kara. "We'll take Lain," he said through gritted teeth.
Kara removed her hand and grabbed an amulet that was under her shirt. She turned to Yugi. "Call out 'Ice Mage'," she instructed him. She turned toward her opponents and cried out, "Fire Maiden!"
Kara grabbed a necklace that had dangled around her neck. "Fire Maiden!" she cried. In a blast of fire she was suited in a pink dress, red shoulder armor, and boots.
Yugi looked at her, astonished by what she did. Yugi was given a hurry-up-before-they-attack look and did what he was told. "Ice Mage!" he cried.
Yugi was hidden by a three second mist as power surged through him. In seconds, he was the Ice Element, wearing a white shirt and a deep blue cape that went down to his knees and was facetted with a deep blue crystal to hold the two ends of the cape together. He also wore white gloves and deep blue boots and pants. His bracelet was over his right glove.
"Yugi, call on your Spirare!" Sonic called.
Yugi didn't exactly know what he meant so he watched Kara. She held out her hand and cried, "Hikaru!". A fiery ball appeared in her hand and she slammed it into her weapon that she had when she transformed.
Yugi copied her but called on his Spirare instead, quickly giving the ice blue animal a name. "Koori!" he cried. A second later, a white ball was in his hand. Yugi jabbed it into his bracelet, which glowed a ghastly white-blue aura.
"Let's take this to the roof tops," Zeke said. The next moment the two enemies had jumped out of the room into the street. Kara, Sonic, and Yugi ran after them.
"Yoo-hoo! Over here!" came the cocky and sneering voice of Lain. Yugi and Sonic turned to see her just in time as a wave of ice descended down on them. Kara jumped out of the way and onto the roof tops and Yugi and Sonic made shields of wind and ice to stop it dead in it's tracks.

"So, let's begin," Zeke called to Kara as if it was a friendly sporting event instead of a deadly battle.
Zeke summoned his spirit, a miniature that had haunted Kara's dreams. It was a transparent red with long arms and legs, a small head, and antlers. "You may have the fist move," Zeke said.
"Gladly," Kara hissed. She jumped into the air and spun around. "Hanabi Blaze Attack!" The end of her staff glowed red hot flames that spun around in circles on both ends, They released when she swept her staff at him. The deadly fire spun round and round hurtling towards Zeke. He didn't move a centimeter.
The move hit dead on! Kara knew something was wrong. Then Zeke jumped from the flames unharmed. Kara gasped in horror.
In her surprised state, Kara had dropped her guard. A hand clamped around her. The miniature spirit had grown and snatched Kara.
She struggled as the fire seared her skin. Kara did her best not to cry out in pain.
"Fire Spirit, let Kara go," he said, as if it pained him to see her in such a state.
What the? Kara thought. She put it to the back of her mind as she hit the ground and launched her second attack. "Hi Blast Burn!" she cried, slamming her hands into the ground. A shock wave of red hot aura ran across the space towards Zeke.
This time it hit and hurt. Zeke emerged from the flames. His face was not of anger or surprise but full of concern. There was a small pang of regret that disappeared as quickly as it came.
Zeke turned his burned body around. "We'll finish this later," Zeke said, frustrated.
"Wait!" Kara called. She flinched. Her voice was one of desperation and concern. She too was frustrated.He's my enemy and I don't have feelings for him! she cried to herself. Why do I feel concerned?!
Zeke gave her one last glance and disappeared in a burst of flames. His spirit along with him.

Yugi and Sonic jumped away as ice hit the street where they were just standing.
Sonic readied an arrow to his bow. "Fuu Air Arrow!" The arrow whizzed toward Lain, who just threw up a ice shield that stopped it.
Yugi bent to his knee. His bracelet glowed and made several ice pieces that hovered around him. Lock on, he thought. Ice Missiles.
The pieces of ice flew silently toward their enemy. She knocked them aside easily.
"I'm bored," Lain said, faking a yawn. "I want some entertainment! Doge this! Ice Surf!"
The was a rumble. Down the street, a wave of ice and snow ran like water towards them. Yugi and Sonic couldn't get far enough away when it crashed into them. Yugi took a deep breath just before the tidal wave crashed into them.
Sonic gasped for breath. Can't swim! he thought as he struggled for breath as he sunk like a rock. Yugi swam towards him and grabbed him around the waist. Ice Missiles! Ice shards flew towards the frozen surface. Nothing happened.
Yugi could hear Lain's voice laughing. Suddenly, Yugi needed air. He swam towards the top of the water to try to get some air. He pounded on the sheet of ice that kept him and Sonic between life and death.
"I love to see people struggle for air!" Lain laughed.
Come on! Give way! Yugi almost shouted pounding the ice sheet.
In the distance, Yugi could here a shriek and the words, "you'll regret this!" from above the ice sheet.
A hole was blasted above them. Yugi and Sonic rose to the surface. They breathed in gasps. Yugi looked up to see Kara kneeling on the surface of the ice, looking like the sun after a terrifying nightmare.
"Lain disappeared, so the battle's over for now," Kara said, helping Sonic and Yugi to the ice's surface.
The three jumped to the roofs. Kara melted the ice so quickly that it turned into water vapor within minutes.
"Now what?" Yugi asked.
"Isn't that obvious?" Kara replied.
"We look for Thunder and battle the Moon Elements," Sonic answered. "Let's get going."
And so they did.
