Well, as it turns out, Citrus and I went out a bit on Black Friday... and the shoppers seemed to have learned that they all don't need to rush out so early in the morning o_o There were a lot of people out during the daytime this time! We didn't buy anything and cut our little excursion short XD But we were just planning on looking around as it was so nothing really lost (except maybe a little time), and nothing really gained (except knowledge).
We watched Arrietty a few days later (my dad joined us too), and while my mom complimented the artwork shortly after the movie began (she said she really likes the style and how lush the garden looked), she did say the movie dragged a bit. Well, it is a bit of a slower-paced movie.
Actually, the funny thing is that I think she liked Ponyo more than Arrietty considering that she'll occasionally bring up her pronunciation of Sousuke's name XD Citrus has already said that he wants to buy the movie, and my mom's certainly not objecting :D
I think maybe in terms of action she might like The Cat Returns, but we'll see... I offered to put in another one a few days ago, but she declined. I don't want her to think all Ghibli movies are slow! >_<
But I'm glad you liked Life of Pi. I can't say that I'm interested in seeing it myself but I'm happy to hear that people are enjoying it, especially considering the types of movies that are popular nowadays -_-U (and considering what I've heard about the themes in the movie)
And yeah, I've just got to think positive about the job thing! I mean, it's not like I'm completely unemployed (it's just "underemployed", as in one part-time job, and I'm still living with my loving family). Besides, as I haven't completely narrowed down everything I wanted to do yet, I was reminded of a child in the Mixed Vegetables manga saying, "Oh, then you can become anything you'd like!" and I mulled over that for a bit. So I'm going to write. I've just finished an outline for a book (and Citrus gave it a thumbs-up, which just thrilled me :D) so I'm going to do my best and work at it :) Hopefully, "author" will be my other job.
Oh, we have something like that, but instead for a just a day, we have them around christmas time. We also have Boxing day sales, which usually happens after christmas and January next year. Its when all the stores have massive sales to get rid of their old stock, and get ready for the new year. Its pretty awesome!
Ah don't feel silly, my sister didn't know what it was and we DO have Thanksgiving xD
Black Friday is when the stores put all these sales and deals out so they can sell their stuff and stock up for Christmas xD It can get crazy cuz everyone wants those good deals so they stampede and even fight each other for what they want O_O Isn't that crazy? xD
^_^
AH!!! O_O Did u survive with ur bro and get the flatscreen? Thats SO early!
My dad got a flat screen this past weekend and it would have been a whole lot tougher for him to get it had we lived in USA too xD
Oh lol!! I'm so happy for you both, its a great thing when parents enjoy watching anime with ya :D I just had the same thing happen with me, my parents, and Arrietty! ^_^
Thats a good idea! My dad purchased a huge TV online, our first flatscreen xD and he had to pick it up on Friday so that wasnt the best of plans seeing Canadian stores suddenly decided to copy some Black Friday deals =_=
Yes! I should email u with my run down of the movie (no spoilers of course) xD I really enjoyed it!
Sorry for my late reply, Sushi!! I've barely been online since last week Dx I hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
Woah, thats good then! Canada just tried bringing some Black Friday deals to stores near me and it got a bit crazy at my local Walmart... My dad saw people fighting which is a first up here O_O
THAT IS SO AWESOME!!! I had the same news for you... My parents watched Secret World of Arrietty with me and my sisters over the weekend too! I had already seen it once so I didn't feel so paranoid xD Ooo I just love when that happens, no criticism and even a growing interest eh!... And exactly, I feel the SAME way. I feel not right if I'm watching or drawing something that my parents don't like. >_<
Oh that is just super <3 Let me know what she thought of Arrietty, if u watched it with her too^^
I'm sorry about not being able to get the job, but you are so positive! You bless me because you great attitude and love to God <3 *big smile* I'm really happy for you!
Thats interesting about that fact... I saw Life of Pi in 3D and really enjoyed it lots!!! Its was so realistic and the story was great, just like the book :) They did well in making it!
Thanks, Hana-chan!
Lol agreed!
Thanks! OH is your cool icon of Jack Frost?? 8D I haven't seen the movie but I've heard lots about it... did u see it? :D
HAHAHAHAHAA I KNOW RIGHT??! XD
YAY! I MISSED CAPS LOCK AND YOU! *HUGS U*
I had my Thanksgiving last month cuz I'm in Canada, but thankyou!! I want to have another Thanksgiving x)
Have a great weekend!

Thanks! :D And yeah, I don't really plan on shopping on Friday. If I do go out, it'll be later in the day. Actually, Citrus and I did that last year; we went to Best Buy on Black Friday, later in the day, and there was hardly anyone out XD It was like 10:30 am or something.
Nice! Glad you liked it. ACTUALLY, there's been an exciting development at my house today!! :D While my mom's not a big anime fan, Citrus and I were watching Ponyo (of all things) and my mom actually sat down and watched part of it with us! :D And she didn't criticize it; in fact, she actually said that she liked the artwork :DD I mean, my mom's not a big fantasy fan (though she does like Narnia and Lord of the Rings) and she certainly has questioned things in the past that my brother and I have watched (not that they were bad things, she just didn't like them, but the criticizing made me feel like my enjoyment for it was taken away...) Anyways, she says that she wants to continue watching Arrietty!! (We put it in for a few minutes when some friends came over, just to show them what it was like).
So I found out today that I didn't get the job I recently applied for, but God surprised me and gave me this special grace of being able to share a Ghibli movie with my mom and she didn't criticize it and actually liked the art and was sort of getting into it a bit :DDDD Sorry, I know that was a run-on. I'm just so happy. God is sooooooo good. ^_^
And I hope you enjoy Life of Pi :D I actually read on Rotten Tomatoes that the book was considered at one time "unfilmable"... but then again, so was Lord of the Rings, and look what happened with those masterpieces :D
