Chapter three: A Warning?

-_Taisuke_-

‘What the hell is going on? I didn’t think that they would have been able to develop that bullet that fast. I know that I had a prototype of it but it didn’t really work.’ I thought as the water from the shower head beat down on my back. ‘Kuori was in a lot more danger then he puts on. He might of acted like he was alright, but I’m sure that even Mi noticed that he was uneasy. If either one of us gets caught when we get shot with that from any type of authority figure then we’re putting the whole family, along with Miyuki and her family in danger.’ Tipping my head back so that my hair was getting wet I took a step back and closed my eyes and let the water beat against my face.

“Tai, honey, your father and I are heading to bed.” My mother shouted through the door.

Her voice snapped me out of my thoughts and I took a sharp breath in and started choking on the water.

“Taisuke, are you okay?” She asked.

“I’m fine.” I coughed, “Good night.”

“Okay then, good night Tai.” She said and then I heard her footsteps fade as she walked down the hall.

I finished up in the shower and got out. After getting dressed I walked back to my room and with out turning on the light I flopped down onto my bed. I didn’t want to move really. I had been in the shower so long I felt like jell-o and didn’t want to move. Moving my bangs out of my face I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.

“Kuori, you can’t avoid this conversation, you know it was going to come up eventually.” I mentioned as we sat at the kitchen table.

“I know, but still we can’t just stop using our powers.” Kuori stated.

“We need to stop Kuori, if we don’t we’re putting everyone that’s close to us in danger.” I stated with a calm expression.

“I know…I know…” Kuori sighed in frustration and crossing his arms.

“Then we have to stop.” I stated.

“What good is that going to do us if they’ve already found out about us?” Kuori asked.

“I don’t know Kuori, I just don’t know okay. I’m trying to think of some sort of plan.” I said.

“Well you’re thinking they are probably getting closer.” He shouted at me.

“You don’t think I don’t know that?!” I shouted right back and slammed my hands on the table. “Forget it, I’m done, I have a headache anyways.” I muttered and walked away from the table and down the hall.

“This conversation isn’t over Tai, you can’t keep running from your problems.” Kuori commented and I knew that he was following me.

“Stop it you two right now!” Miyuki interjected.

I scoffed and went into the spare bedroom and shut the door. “Tai open this door right now!” Kuori pounded on the door.

‘He’s right, you can’t hide.’ The commander’s voice echoed around the room.

“Go away.” I said.

“No Tai we’re going to talk about it.” Miyuki said, “Now please open the door.”

‘You know what will happen to you if you get caught. And I intend on doing every experiment I possible can on you and Zero.’ The voice echoed again.

“I said GO AWAY!” I screamed covering my ears.

“We’re not going to go away.” I looked up and saw the commander standing at the other end of the room.

“No, you’re not here, this is just a dream.” I said with a terrified expression on my face and I backed up against the door.

“No matter where you go, or run to, I will find you Taisuke, and I will capture you.” He said and suddenly he was standing right in front of me. “I’m closer then you think. I’m watching you…” He said then started laughing.

“AHHHHHH!” I screamed and shot up off my pillow. I was breathing heavily and I had a cold sweat.

“Taisuke, honey what’s wrong are you okay?” My mom asked running into my room.

I don’t know why I just pulled my knees up to my chest and put my hands on my head and gripped my hair and started crying.

“Tai, what’s wrong? I can’t help you if you don’t tell me.” She stated sitting on my bed next to me.

“I’m scared…I…I don’t know what to do.” I chocked.

My mom didn’t say anything, she just pulled me into a hug and held me.

“What’s wrong with Taisuke?” My dad groggily asked.

“He had a bad dream and he’s taken on a fever. I think he’s getting sick.” My mom responded.

“These nightmares have been happening a lot more recently since he’s been out of the force.” I heard my dad say.

“I’m fine.” I coughed, “I just haven’t gotten a lot of sleep.” I managed to say after calming down.

“I’ll go get you some medicine so you can sleep.” My mom said and brushed my bangs out of my face and tucked them behind my ear then got up and walked out of the room.

My dad walked over and felt my forehead, “Seems like you’re going to be getting a new power then.” He said.

“Not very good timing though, considering that I’m trying to find another job or figure out something.” I commented.

“You’ll be fine.” He smiled.

“What’s on your mind dad?” I asked.

“We’ll talk about it in the morning.” He said standing up as my mom walked in with a glass of water and some Tylenol.

“Thanks.” I answered my mom handed the water and pills to me then kissed my forehead then they both left.

I set the glass and the pills on my night stand and laid back down. I knew that not even those would stop my dreams.

I woke up and I didn’t feel good at all. I didn’t want to get out of bed, all I wanted to do was lay there. But I knew that it would be better for me to get up and move around.

“All I have to say is this power better be fucking good for me to feel this shitty.” I muttered taking the Tylenol and then heading out to the living room. My mom and dad were sitting in the kitchen eating and talking when I came strolling in.

“Well you look like hell.” My dad commented.

“I feel like I’m going through hell.” I answered and slumped down in a chair at the table. “So what did you want to talk about?” I asked with no enthusiasm at all in my voice.

“Well your mother and I were planning on going on a vacation with your Aunt and Uncle.” My father replied.

“So what am I going to do then?” I questioned.

“Well we were hoping that you wouldn’t mind staying over at your cousins house, but we may have him come here first to look after you, right now you look like you can barely move.” Mom stated.

“No it’s okay I can go over there, it’s not a big deal. I don’t mind.” I answered. “How long is the trip?” I asked.

“About a month. We’re sorry to be springing this on you so soon honey.” Mom apologized.

“No, no it’s okay really, Kuori and I will be just fine I promise.” I waved my hands in front of my face and smiled weakly at them.

“Okay well we were planning on leaving in a day or two so you have time to pack and hopefully you’ll be better by that time.” My mom stated.

“Sounds good.” I muttered and rested my head on my arms.

“Why don’t you go back to bed and get some rest.” Dad offered.

“Okay.” I said not wanting to argue.

“Take a shower first though, it will probably make you feel a little better.” My mom called after me.

“Okay.” I responded and went to my room and grabbed a new pair of boxers, some lounge pants and a t-shirt then went to the bathroom to take a shower.

Once I took a shower I went back to my room and crawled back into bed. This was not going to be fun with this cold. “I really hope it goes away soon.” I muttered and pulled the blankets over my head and grabbed my cell phone so that I could text Miyuki and see what she was up to.
