Last night, ANN had reported that North American anime distributor Diskotek had licensed 1971's "Lupin III" (better known as "Lupin III Part 1") for commercial distribution in North America. According to Diskotke, the Region 1 DVD release of the classic T.V. series will be sometime in Spring of 2012.
This is good news as fans of "Lupin III" in North America will have the chance to see the "Lupin III" series that predates 1978's "The New Lupin III" (better known as "Lupin III Part 2"), which was years ago brought on Region 1 DVD by Geneon under complete title "Lupin the 3rd".
