I don't know if any of you heard the news yesterday, but I have found out from ANN that a Japanese live-action Patlabor will be launching sometime in 2014, though ANN has not indicated if it will be a movie or T.V. series. Yes, this will be the first Patlabor filmed work since WXIII: Patlabor the Movie 3 (2002).
Considering the realism in the Patlabor anime, I can see the project's potential of finding lots of actors and actresses who can naturally replicate the actual Patlabor character's hairs and physiques without need for makeup or tupees/wigs. Plus, I'm interested in seeing the mecha designs when new info arrives, and I hope this gets commercially distributed in North America soon. And Speaking of Patlabor, I also frealized today that the North American DVD distributor Maiden Japan will be doing a new R1 DVD release for Mobile Police Patlabor: The TV Series (or simply Mobile Police Patlabor TV) on July 16, though this piece of news was like before this month, and look out for Moble Police Patlabor: the Original OVA Series on Region 1 DVD as well.
