I'M GOING TO MEET JJ REDICK!!!!!!!!!

You guys... you don't understand...
The number one thing on my bucket list that I have wanted to do since I was, like, 15 is to see JJ Redick play basketball.
And now I get to!
I just booked tickets to one of his games in Minneaplis next March. I AM SO FUCKINg EXCITED!!!!

I sure hope after the game he sticks around for autographs or something. I'd be the happiest woman alive.

I got so excited, I gave myself a headache.

My Birthday Shenanigans!

Thank you all to everyone who sent me gifts and well wishes for my birthday! It meant so much to see all of my friends on here taking time out of their day to do something for me. :)

The whole day was pretty great!

Friday night, I celebrated with my friend Liz. She brought some wine and we marathoned the tv show Alias. We're in the second season. It's pretty good. I love it. She left after midnight, so we technically rung in my birthday together.

Saturday, I got to sleep in and made myself my favorite lunch and ate way too much of it. Then I spent an hour and a half doing my hair. I wanted to try something different to curl it. It turned out really well, but it took forever. Curling my hair normally takes 20-30 minutes. So this added on an extra hour. But I liked it, so it worked out. Then Seth and Ana showed up to we went to get my tattoo. I love it so much

It doesn't really have a meaning, but it's meaningful in that I have always loved this design. And I've been debating about getting one for over a year. But I figured there are five birds. One for every member of my family. So that can be its meaning.
Since I got the tattoo on the most painful spot, it did hurt. A lot. Seth had to hold my hand the entire time, which I thought was super nice of him! And he and Ana talked about a lot of different things to take my mind off the pain, which worked pretty well. It wasn't the worst pain I've ever felt, but it's definitely up there, and I have a high pain tolerance.
Then we went out for supper at Old Chicago (Has anyone ever been to one before?) and met up with another friend of mine, John. And we ate good food and I got dessert for free for my bday.
Then we went back to my place and had a nerf gun war in my apartment. It was absolutely fantastically fun! I am a terrible shot, but I had a couple good shots. Then Seth and I played Left 4 Dead. IT was great.
Then we called it a night and I texted Joe to see if he'd want to see me. I had texted him way earlier if he wanted to hang out, but he never got back to me, so I texted him kind of spitefully saying "nevermind, we don't need to hang out."And he texted back almost immediately saying he was asleep earlier. I call bullshit on him not getting my text before he fell asleep, but whatever. So I asked if he wanted to hang out now since he was awake again and he asked where I was, thinking I was out at a bar somewhere, but I was at my apartment. And then he quit texting me again.I waited and waited and fell asleep. So then at 1:30, I wake up and noticed he still never texted back, so I said "nevermind" again, and a half an hour later he says "Sorry... I know I suck... just not in a good place." And I was a little upset, so I told him if he didn't want to do something, he can just say no rather than not responding and making me wait for a reply back from him." And then he invited me over and I felt weird because it felt like I pushed him into asking me over, but he assured me he doesn't get pushed into doing things he doesn't want to. I still call bullshit. But whatever. I wanted bday sex. So I went over. It was okay. But we had to sleep on the couch because his bed fucked up his back. He told me I could sleep on the bed, but I wanted to sleep with him. I should have taken the bed. I got zero sleep. I can't sleep on the side of my tattoo, and I was on the wrong side of the couch, so I couldn't use the arm rest as a pillow. It was so uncomfortable.
So I was basically up since 9:30, and rolled around a lot until 11:45. Joe was still sleeping and I didn't feel like staring at the ceiling anymore, so I got up and left without a word.
I like that I'm getting bolder with what I tell him. A year ago, I never would have been able to argue with him. Baby steps!
So the last half of the night kinda sucked, but at least my actual birthday was wonderful and great!

Been Cray-Cray!

Guys! IT's been so long! I remember when I used to be able to update my world here ever other day and hardly anything ever happened for me to write about!
Boy has life been busy around here lately! Good crazy, though!

Let's see, the last thing I talked about was ChiCon and meeting the Supernatural boys!
Then I went to Minneapolis on a business trip for 3 days. It was fun. I had a super nice hotel room. The shower had one of those rain heads at the top of the shower. And it was huge! With mirrors all over the apartment. And I was high up in the hotel and could look down at everything. It was so great. Would have been a great hotel room to have sex. So many mirrors! And we'd be able to have sex with the curtains open or against the window and no one seeing. There was a lot of stuff to take in in two and a half days of training, but I think I got it fairly well. And I'd like to think my boss and me are pretty close now, so that helps. He told me that both his superiors think highly of me, and I'm hoping that once all the departmental moves, they might need a second coordinator, and I'm going to be all over that like white on rice. My favorite coworker changed departments, and he's in a completely different part of the building that I'm not allowed access into. I'm sad now because he was the only one I really talked to. Now we;ll only be able to email. Le sigh.

And now, I'm moving my stuff again! Into my fancy golf course apartment. I'm not on the side of the building that faces the golf course, sadly. But it's still a nice place. Smaller than what I'm used to, but safer. I live right next door to a police officer. Can't get much safer than that, I don't think. My next door neighbor at my old place saw me moving today and came out to ask me about it. She asked if I was moving because of this guy that is sleeping over in the apartment right across the hall from me. The guy scares her, I guess. I don't even know who she's talking about because I'm never home. But I told her the guy I'm scared of is the guy that's across the hall from her, and she nodded like she understood why and then helped me carry some stuff to the car for me when I told her I was moving everything by myself. She is such a sweet old lady, and she and her husband will be the only thing I miss about this place.

I worked Friday and Saturday and my server job and made a shit TON of money in tips. Friday night, I made $250 and last night, I made over $200. It was a good couple days. Someone picked up my shift for me tonight, otherwise, I'd probably make another couple hundred bucks tonight. But I'm gonna use the time to pack and move shit. So it'll be all good.

and then Wednesday I get to hang out with Ana and Thursday I get to hang out with Kat, one of my old bank employees that I absolutely love! I haven't seen her in forever! So excited. I also am hoping to find time to bake some cupcakes for my family for coming up and helping me. We'll see, though.

Fighting for what I Believe In

For those of you who don't know me real well, if someone says something sexist, racist, or is prejudiced against someone for whatever reason, I will be all over their ass telling them exactly what is wrong with them. Lately, my biggest battle is over feminism and sexism.
I don't know if you all have seen that video of a woman (wearing only jeans and a long sleeve top) walks around a city for 10 hours and documents how often she is getting sexually harassed on the streets.
Someone I know posted it on Facebook, and this ensued. It's a bit long:

Anthony
Hmm... I'm not sure saying hello and have a nice evening count as street harassment...

Adam
Some of those comments though. Not about the actual comment. About the way they were coming off. Even when I heard them say it, it was weird. The way they looked at her.
October 28 at 1:52pm

Anthony
It's in our nature to look at Sexy women. Looking also isn't street harassment. Following her for blocks on end when she clearly doesn't want anything to do with you... They deserve to be shot in my opinion
October 28 at 1:54pm

Luke
Yeah I was gonna say. Going hey how are you! and have a nice evening shouldnt be counted but like DAMN GIRL YOU SEXY...yeah that is pretty next level lol
October 28 at 1:59pm

Adam
That dude was the biggest CREEPER ever
October 28 at 2:05pm

Elizabeth
They normal hey's and have a nice evening or day no not harassment but the rest yes very much so. Also staring or looking inappropriately at someone is harassment. Using the oh its in our nature is bullshit, self control is in your nature too so you can learn to use that instead of oogling at a girl when she walks past.
October 28 at 4:55pm

Anthony
Bullshit. You females oogle guys just the same.
October 28 at 7:36pm

Adam
Sorry Anthony. With Liz on that one. The "in our nature" card is kinda BS
October 28 at 8:02pm

Elizabeth
No not all females do so you should rephrase that. I never said females don't I was simply stating that it is not in a males nature to oogle over a woman as you stated.
October 28 at 8:30pm

Nikki
Elizabeth is absolutely right. No such thing as 'in your nature' in regards to this. And saying females ogle guys just the same is a cop out. Females deal with these kind of things every single day no matter where they are, what they are doing, what they are wearing from men. Men do not get the ogling to the same degree at all.
October 28 at 9:10pm

Josh
This video pissed me off, but being attracted to someone is human nature, so it isn't really just a male or female issue. It isn't right what these men did or said at all, but you can't lie and say you never checked out a guy/girl, you just were polite enough to not say things like this.
October 28 at 9:15pm

Nikki
But it is a male/female issue. Men do what happened in this video all of the time. Live my life for a day and you will see what I mean. For the most part, girls don't treat men this way at all. Yes, of course, women and men find each other attractive, but it's about what you said, being polite enough not to say things like this. But that's not the point of this video. The point of this video is to show what a typical female goes through on a day to day basis. Sexual harassment, unfortunately, is an occurrence that happens WAY more than anyone wants to admit.
October 28 at 9:20pm

Josh
Yes, I realized the point of the video was about sexual harassment. What I am trying to say is that sexual harassment occurs in both men and women. I get hit on by patients all the time at my job, and I'm not shy in saying that it's inappropriate. I got dragged to a Twilight movie with Reba and there were many women (not preteens) that would not shut up about either male in the movie, same with when Ryan Gosling or any other guy from the media takes his shirt off for five seconds in a film. Not disagreeing with you, just saying it works both ways.
October 28 at 9:34pm

Nikki
It does go both ways, but my point is that it happens more to women than men by a lot. Period. Especially with the harassment aspect not just the objectification aspect in the media.
October 28 at 9:36pm

Josh
I would agree with that 100%, all I'm saying is not all guys are pigs like the men in this video, and not all girls are polite like you.
October 28 at 9:39pm

Anthony
Yeah, my fault, it's not in our DNA to look for attractive mates.... Sigh...

except that doesn't bother me as much as the bottom photo. There's a difference. And no one was talking about police brutality here...

Also saying one thing isn't bad because a different thing Is worse is extreme ignorance. Police brutality is awful, it has no bearing on whether or not men should treat woman with respect. How about we address both instead of devaluing one by addressing the other comparatively?

I am so pissed that guy even thought he could compare police brutality to sexual harassment that women face on a day to day basis. What the fuck? I would have went off on him, but Cy said everything I would have said.
If you are reading this and siding with most of the men, I implore you to read this article:
6 Things You Might Not Think Are Harassment but Definitely Are
These men, as well intentioned that they are, are part of the problem. Yes, we all know that "NOT ALL MEN" Do such and such a thing. But they are part of the problem because they are making excuses and doing nothing to fix the problem. Oh, you have a problem with the men that do do that and give all you good guys a bad name? Fucking do something about it rather than sitting behind your computers doing nothing. Feminism is a fight for both sexes not just the women.
And it bothers me so much when men try to say that women do the same thing men do. No. No. Just stop. IT is not to the same degree. Men don't have to be scared walking around a street. Men aren't told from a young age what they should do to not get raped. Men don't have to worry about anything like that because they have the privilege of being male. And most are white. So they have the highest privilege you can possibly have. So what do they have to compare to? They don't get prejudiced against. SO they have absolutely no idea what it is like to be anything less.
