News: Star Trek Movie 12 Villain Confirmed

Today, TrekMovie.com has confirmed a few facts about what to expect from the upcoming 12th Star Trek movie, which is scheduled for release next year, although the premise of the film itself is not yet indicated.

  • The main villain of this film is Eugenics War leader Khan Noonien Singh, to be played by Benedict Cumberbatch. However, it is unknown if the film will be set before or after the the "Speed Seed" issue of IDW's currently running Star Trek ongoing comic book series, or whether it might contradict it all together, given that Star Trek comic book stories are usually considered non-canon (with the exception of the limited series Star Trek: Countdown).
  • Leonard Nimoy will be reprising the role of the Prime Reality Spock, last played in filming of 2009's Star Trek.
  • This movie will mark the first onscreen Abramsverse appeararnce of the Klingons, apart from their appearance in the scenes filmed for 2009's Star Trek but not included in its theatrical release.

To tell the truth, the facts were not amooung what I expected from this upcoming Star Trek flick. For example, I was expecting an antagonal alien race not shown in any previous Star Trek film, like say the Gorn, the Kzinti, the Orions, or something instead of Klingons. But I guess it's better than no Star Trek film at all. So I still look forward to this movie.
