Chapter 25

Dia landed on Shunsuke's shoulder, placing a hand on his cheek. "I'm so sorry, Shunsuke. After the two of you were finally starting to make a connection." A single tear fell down her cheek, though she quickly wiped it away. Lady Kayden would not want anyone to shed tears over her.

"I'm so sorry," Shunsuke kept whispering and every few seconds he would pull her into a kiss, trying desperately to transfer essence. His face was red and pale, panic stricken. "Why won't it work?" he asked, hugging her tighter to his body.

Kayden's body was nearly transparent now. "She is not conscious, and so she has no will to take the essence. You have to try breathing it into her. You are a special human. Maybe you can transfer the essence without her needing to suck it out of you." Dia was growing hopeful.

"Ok, so just breath into her. I'll do it," Shunsuke nodded and placed his mouth atop of Kayden's.

"You have to picture yourself transferring life between the two of you. Watch as your very soul and hers bind. It's the only way." Dia knew this act was forbidden, a Hollow and a Human binding souls. But, if it was going to save her Lady's life, Dia would suffer the consequences.

The white clouds were moving slowly around me, and I could only see the bright, blue sky around me. Looking down, I couldn't see the ground, just more sky and clouds.

Relief, hope, happiness, and a feeling of total relaxation took over my whole being. I was drifting, swimming in the open sky with not a care in the world. I smiled to myself as I laid back, my hair pooling out around me, letting the wind take me wherever it willed.

As I drifted, A shadow fell over my head. Looking behind me, I turned. There was a beautiful woman standing before me, dressed in white. Her dress was long, and billowed at her feet. The top was quite revealing, showing off her pale, nearly translucent skin. Her soft, blue eyes fell upon mine. She had long, straight, blonde hair that she had braided behind her. Blue-white wings were sprouted from her back, making her appear as though she was an angel.

I could only stare, unsure of what she would say, or what I should say in return. This woman was gorgeous, far more gorgeous than I.

"It is time," she stated after several seconds of silence. Her voice was sweet and melodious.

I frowned, "Time for what?"

"A binding," she replied. "Time for you to go back home."

"Home?" I asked. I wasn't at home now? I looked around me, but this was such a peaceful place. I didn't want to leave.

"You do not belong here. Here, you can not save the lives of many innocents."

"If not here, where do I belong?" I demanded, starting to get angry at her for wanting me leave.

"Is there not someone you belong with?"

I stopped short of an insult. Someone I belong with? A flash of an person shot through my mind. I clutched at my temple. What was that just now? Who was I supposed to be with? Why had I forgotten?

The angel placed a hand atop of my head, and the image cleared. "Shunsuke," I whispered. Immediately, I knew I was dying, and I remembered everything that had transpired. I didn't want to die. I wanted to be with Shunsuke. Even if it meant leaving this place, I'd rather be with him. I turned to the woman in front of me. "I want to go back. Send me to him."

"I cannot do that. My job is to simply prepare you for the binding."

"That's the second time you've you said that. What binding?"

She moved her hands up and summoned a ball of cloud to appear in front of her. With a spell, she told me to look deep within. Doing what I was told, I could see Shunsuke kissing me. There were golden wisps of magic strands shooting out of his body entangling me against him.

My eyes widened. He was binding our souls. Placing a part of his soul into mine. By doing this, he was making me part human. I was going to wake up with human limitations, though I would still keep my mind abilities, I would no longer be as quick or strong. I would be subjected to human emotions more easily.

I looked down at my body, now completely covered in the golden wisps. I looked up at the angel woman. She placed a hand on my cheek, caressing it with her thumb. "You are ready to be bound to this human forever. You will be one soul in two bodies. He feels pain, you feel pain. He feels joy, you will feel his joy. It's the greatest bond of all."

I was scared. Scared of who I was going to be when I woke up. Would I be able to protect him any longer? Would I be able to ever return to the Shadow World? Would Shunsuke see me any differently?

I could feel my body being pulled back. The sky and clouds disappeared, and I was blinded by a white light.
