Chapter 82

It was Hyaku's birthday today! I felt badly because I didn't know what to do for him. I figured that I could let him make one request of me and see where that took us. Koori had only told me last night that today was the big day, so I hadn't had a whole lot of time to prepare.

Sora came and retrieved me as soon as I was awake. Hana needed to see me it seemed. When I entered the temple, Koori was there as well.

"What are you going to be doing for Hyaku's birthday?" he asked with a huge grin on his face. I could only imagine what direction his mind was taking at the moment.

I blushed under his gaze. "I, uh, don't know yet. Whatever he wants I suppose would be good enough."

He laughed at this. "Oh, he's going to get some."

I flushed at the language he was using, but I wasn't able to defend either hyaku or myself when said person walked into the temple.

"Hyaku! You're old man!" Koori said with a huge grin as he walked over to Hyaku, placing a hand on his shoulder and gave it a small squeeze.

"Look who's talking; you're five hundred and six," Hana said looking at koori, coming to Hyaku's rescue.

"Five hundred and three in demon years, and twenty tree in human years" Koori corrected matter-of-factly. He looked a little smug.

The thought that they were that old was a little overwhelming. I couldn't get my mind around that big of a number. How could anyone get to that age? "What about you?" I asked, looking up at Hyaku.

"Old" he answered, darting around the answer.

Koori coughed, "Two hundred," he said.

Hyaku sighed. "nineteen, if I were human," he answered. He gave me a sheepish look, but I couldn't help but smile. He had a few years on me, but I'd catch up soon enough.

"Ok enough fulling around, let's discuss the Curse," hana said getting us back down to business.

We sat down around the little table all serious again. "What are we discussing exactly?" I asked, confused what we were talking about. I didn't know everything about the curse to begin with, so this was in a realm I wasn't very familiar with.
