Coming Home to Wreckage

Akira

"Come on! I want to spend some time with Karin!" Sebastian whines and I just stared at him with unblinking eyes.

"I know, especially with her nightmares, but I need you to do this for me. Besides, when we get to America, I'll be getting this girl named Ela before we head home. I'll have everybody just wander around D.C. as I get there. They can talk and get to know each other," I sighed, thinking about how I was even going to get the Avian herself since it seemed that she went everywhere.

"Akira, you need to spend time with everybody since you are the leader. You need to let them know who you are," Sebastian stated and I sighed and rubbed my aching temples.

"I already know this, Sebastian. I'll have more time when we get back to the house. Now, go along. Go pack," I shooed him away and that's when I swear everything went fast.

Colette agreed to join the club and we all packed up and headed to the airport. Thankfully, I got a seat alone on the airport and actually got to sleep but only for a little bit. Karin was sitting in beside Griffin and I honestly felt sorry for her. He was being completely silent while she was desperately trying to make conversation.

After only getting to sleep for a little bit, Aaralyn came over and started to ask me about how I found her, same for Colette, who joined her shortly. I started to explain to them how I found the device and showed them it. They were stunned and honestly, after all of this, I still was. I honestly felt comfortable talking to them after a while. We started to talk about the house and what everything was like.

“The house... well, if you want to think about it, it’s kind of a mansion. My family used to live in it and it was a huge clan of werewolves so we have loads of extra room in the house. It’s pretty big. It has a pool in the backyard and its three floors. Anybody can live on the second and third level. The first consists of the dining room and all of that,” I said and they kept quiet, not asking any questions. Ash crept her way over to me and listened in, taking one of the empty seats in front of me and looking over it to listen in.

“We have two basements. One is for laundry and the other has a bunch of games in it. There’s a library and a gigantic living room that looks like a ballroom. And then there’s the forest around it that thrives with rare meat,” I laughed as I nodded to Colette and she laughed a little. We continued to talk like this for a while.

Once we got to D.C., I told everybody to stay where they were while I went to go and get Ela. It was hard to keep track of her, especially with her flying away as soon as I’d found her. I had to get on all fours to chase after her, especially if I was to get up to speed. Once I caught up to her, I got her to join, especially since I mentioned her brother. Even though I could tell she didn’t want to find him, it was obvious in a way, she did. Or at least, that’s what I got off her anyways.

Though the human she wanted to bring with... Well, maybe he was okay.

Then he started with the questions. What the club was like, who was in it, what different types of creatures we were. I sighed. Might as well answer him.

“The club just started for one, and it’s a little hectic right now. We are trying to get back to our home right now in Virginia, where everybody will be able to pick out their own room and we live together, helping each other. We are going to try and figure out why we are being tracked and why we appear on this program. All we know is of this company that attacked us back in Transylvania called ‘Xenogenesis Laboratories,’” I told him and he nodded after a second. We were on a plane now, heading back towards Virginia from Georgia.

“We have a lot of different types of creatures in the club already. You’ll meet them back in Virginia. After this, we are going to finally head back to the house. It has a lot of rooms so you can pick one out but make sure it isn’t near one of us meat-eating creatures,” I slightly bared my fangs and he chuckled nervously and decided to go to the bathroom, probably to catch his breath or throw up.

“You don’t have to be so hard on him,” Ela muttered and I looked at her.

“It’s a little hard when humans hate us, right?” I spat and she didn’t say anything. Once Sam got back, Ela and he started to talk quietly and I just ignored him. Why did I even say yes to this guy? Out of annoyance? Or just to get things going? I have no idea.

I brought out my laptop once Ela questioned how I found her. I showed her simply and Sam was curious too, since he was friends or something with Ela and all. I showed both of them, cautiously only because of Sam. We started to land once I finished up and they got a better understanding of what this whole thing was about.

Though when we got out of the plane and into the terminal, I found the club asleep in chairs, right where I left them a few hours ago. Great. Well, I don’t blame them. Time change and all. All three of us woke them up, and with how cranky and pi**ed off they were, we headed into the truck and headed to the house.

The house was really in the middle of nowhere with nothing but trees hiding it. You had to know where it was to really find it, otherwise, it was inconspicuous. Once I parked the car, I noticed something was odd with the dirt, the house, and the scent. It looked like there were fresh tire tracks in the dirt parking lot and the house looked... different. My nose was filled with different scents as I got out of the car and just stood in front of the house, my keys in hand.

“Well, aren’t we going to go in?” Sam asked as he started to move in front of me but I quickly thrust out my arm and it hit him square hard in the chest. “What was that for?” He wheezed and I pulled my cap off and gave him a glare. My ears were up straight in alert and my fangs and claws were out.

“You can’t smell what I smell,” I hissed and then I turned to everybody. “Is anybody else getting a weird vibe? Karin, is your smell off like mine?” I asked and Karin gave a small nod to me. Everybody else murmured something similar and I took a few steps closer to the house as the smells got stronger and I had to cover my mouth. The smells... they were so foul and disgusting. It made me want to empty my stomach.

As I got to the door, the smells were so strong, I almost stumbled. The doors were broken aside and the windows were broken in. I moved the unhinged door aside and stared at the inside of the house. It was wrecked. Absolutely wrecked from ceiling to floor. The chandelier was torn from the ceiling and sprawled on the floor. The floor itself was torn up, especially under the dining room table. The kitchen was broken up and I couldn’t even tell if the library was, too. The banister was broken up, along with the rugs on the stairs. I could only imagine what the other floors looked like.

Wait. The safe. Papa’s safe.

“Papa,” I muttered. No...

Immediately, I ran on all fours like my werewolf self and downstairs into the basement. It wasn’t badly trashed but some of the arcade games and the pool table weren’t busted at least. The pool table was what had worried me. That’s what hid the safe. Yes, my father put a rectangular, thin safe inside of the pool table. There was a small keypad on the wooden part of the pool table and I typed in the code quickly as I heard everybody coming in. I could hear Karin hopping up the stairs to check on her room and mine as I heard people wandering around and picking up items, looking for clues.

I watched the pool table open up and there sat the metal case for the safe. I pulled it out carefully and saw there was a sticky note on it. I put the safe down once the pool table closed in on itself and read the sticky note. It said:

“Your father knew information, Akira.
That’s why we killed him.
And it’s why we’ll kill you and those friends you’ve collected if you don’t stop sniffing around.”

What? That... couldn’t be true, could it? Papa... did he know about this hard drive or something? Or did he know something else? And who were these people that came and ransacked the house? Could it be the same people that killed Papa?

That’s when I heard gunshots. Not real gun shots, though. The ones that happened years ago when Papa was killed. It was all in my head. I took in sharp breaths before I was able to concentrate on the safe. I had to see if everything was still in there. I typed the password into the safe and it popped open. There was the small little card that told me about the money Papa gave me and then Papa’s things but what was weird was that underneath his stuff, there was a small hatch open that seemed to be a completely different compartment to the safe. I took out Papa’s things carefully and opened up the hatch.

It was papers. Just plain... papers but the writing on them... It was different from Papa’s usual work I saw him doing. He must’ve kept this secret. They didn’t seem to be tampered with or crumbled so they must’ve stayed like this for a while.

I stared at them and tried to understand them but that’s when I started to hear my name being called so I stuffed the papers back inside the safe and put the safe back inside the pool table and locked it up before heading upstairs.

Once I headed upstairs, I saw everybody was in question. Their faces were construed as upset or confused. Or anger. That’s what I got off of Griffin anyways.

“Akira, I found something!” I heard Karin call as she hopped down the stairs quickly and I went over to her as she handed me something. It was a lab coat.

“It was stuck on my door, like it had gotten caught,” Karin said and I nodded and started to search the pockets and look all over it. It had a name tag on it with a barcode and a picture. I turned it around and there was the brand name again: Xenogenesis Laboratories. The coat had the name on it too. They were here.

“Whoever Xenogenesis Laboratories are, it seems they’re after us,” I told everybody and they just nodded. “I hate to say this, but I’m going to need help from everybody to help clean this place,” I told them and they just sighed before they nodded. They understood. I couldn’t do it all by myself. Even if Karin ‘helped.’

“Who’s going to get to the chandelier then?” Griffin asked and I narrowed my eyes.

“Since you can’t fly with your injured wing, I’ll do it,” I spat back and he raised his eyebrows.

“You can’t fly,” and I rolled my eyes, brought out my claws and shoved off my shoes. I jumped onto the wall and started to climb with my claws helping me the whole way. I never cut them. Only sharpened to have better results in either climbing or fighting. I climbed all the way to where I was upside down and set myself into the ceiling with the claws on my toes.

“Where’s the rest of your fur? Isn’t that supposed to come out too?” Griffin called out and I turned my head to him carefully.

“You should see me on a full moon. Karin’s seen it,” I laughed and Karin shuddered at the thought when Griffin looked at her. That’s when Dante took out his wings and flew up to me, along with Ela flying up and helping me pull up the chandelier. Karin started to try to get everybody to help fix the flooring and the windows and the doors and that’s how we got everything going.

Once I got the wiring done in the ceiling, Ela and Dante helped me fix it up the way it was again and that’s when I climbed back down and started to help fix everything. We had a few extra windows in the closets only because back when all of the werewolves lived here, they had parties so we kept up on the broken windows. We fixed the doors and the flooring once I found the hammers and all of the tools. I checked the outdoor pool and noticed it wasn’t damaged at all and the library wasn’t either. I fixed up the kitchen but Acacia wanted to do it instead so I let her and headed upstairs. It was mainly just the rooms that were damaged so we fixed them up and that’s when I decided to go and get food for everybody, along with a new security system. Karin was finishing up the sewing of the rugs that had been ripped slightly and everybody was choosing rooms. It was perfect.

Once I got to the store and got all the food, or at least what I think was needed, I got a bit more supplies for the house to keep it clean and the security system and that was that. I headed back and saw everybody was getting along. I started to set up dinner with Acacia, Karin, and Colette, since Aaralyn was talking with the guys and Ash had taken up a book from the library was sitting in one of the chairs.

Once we finished up dinner, we took it out to the dining room table and everybody joined for dinner. It was fun, sitting with everybody. Some people ended up finishing early and went up to bed or out to the pool and it ended up it just being Karin, Griffin, and I sitting at the table. I kept on feasting on rare meat, another part of me wanting to go and look at Papa’s notes, and Griffin tried to keep a steady conversation with Karin, as if trying to be nicer and listen to her.

I excused myself and went downstairs, not hearing what Griffin said, got the papers out of the safe, and then headed upstairs. I quickly told everybody if they had any questions, they were to ask Karin so that I would not be disturbed before I headed into my room. I decided to call Sebastian and see where he was.

“Yes, Akira?” He sounded tired and agitated. I sighed, mostly from being tired.

“Well, things over here are... so exciting. The house was broken into and-” I was cut off my Sebastian’s yelling.

“Wait, what?” Sebastian practically yelled and I sighed.

“Will you not interrupt?” I sighed exasperatedly and Sebastian shut up. “Thank you. Anyways, we got broken into and we already fixed it all up. Karin fixed up your room to the best of her ability-I asked her when I checked in on her- and the rest will be up to you. I was thinking about having you send everybody on a different plane when the time came to it so you wouldn’t have too much of a crowd with you like a tourist group. What do you think?” I asked and he stayed quiet for a little bit before answering.

“It would be better and we wouldn’t look suspicious or anything afterwards. We just have to give them directions. How would we do that?” Sebastian asked quietly.

“Well, I would have a taxi specifically come and pick them up and bring them to the house. Seems better, don’t you think?” I asked. It wasn’t hard to think of these solutions. Besides, I had thought of this earlier when we were traveling so much.

“It seems. Are you sure we have enough money for that?” He’s kidding me, right?

“Sebastian, I have rubies down in the basement. My dad was given those. At most, I sell those and we get millions of dollars. Do you think we have enough money?” I asked and he shut up. I laughed.

“Anyways, who do you have right now?” I asked and he yawned again, probably not knowing he did so.

“I have Keefer and Kaki right now. I forgot where I’m heading right now,” Sebastian said and I “hmmm”ed. I opened up my laptop and looked at his dot.

“Well, it seems like you’re heading towards Pennsylvania. You heading to get Solana?” I asked.

“Yeah, I guess that’s who I’m heading to. And Akira, I’m getting tired. I want to go to sleep,” Sebastian sighed and I chuckled.

“Alright. See you, errand boy,” and with that, he hung up on me. Whatever.

I walked over to my bed and laid down on it. I finally relaxed, took out my reading glasses that I hid in my bookcase, and started to try to understand my father’s notes. I didn’t care how late I was staying up. Turned out being all night. I had a feeling that I would be doing this for the next few nights.

Well, this is how we got back home :D And Seb is still out looking for people so now, the people that are at the mansion can relax and everything and everybody can post and have fun :DD
