Making a Friend

Konbanwa! So I finally felt like writing again. I kept putting it off. I caught up on everyone's posts. Very good! It's like reading a book with lots of characters. So here's my post!

ALICE

So, another day here at the mansion. I like it here. But I won’t lie, I’m having withdrawal. Circus withdrawal that is. It got so bad I was standing on my hands for twenty minutes. No joke. Well, today’s a new day. Time to make a friend around her. Maybe today will be my lucky day. I went through my closet trying to pick out something to wear. I really packed too much. I’m surprised I didn’t get double checked going through security.

I found an outfit finally. Gray skinny jeans and a black blouse. It’s got little jewels on the top. I bought it in France when we traveled through there once. Brought back memories. Of course I don’t get paid very much so there went most of my salary. I wish I could go outside and frolic in the flowers. A girl can dream. I threw on a pair a white socks and skipped out the door going right back in because I forgot to brush my hair. Time for a trim.

When I stepped back out of my room I started down the hallway and down the stairs for breakfast. Some new kid had showed up. Heiji, I think was his name. He’s like a spirit or something. It’s pretty awesome. When I got to the table to pick up some fruit to munch on I saw a package sitting on the counter. I didn’t want to be nosy or anything but I scooted myself over there slowly and to my surprise my name was plastered across the front. It was obviously from someone at the circus so I started to open it. That was a failure so I found the biggest knife I could in the knife drawer when I saw someone staring at me out of the corner of my eye.
“What are you doing?” I turned slightly, my hand still clutching the knife, to see a girl with blue hair and a matching dress. It was quite the sight and quite the opposite of my wardrobe.

“I’m trying to open my package.” I say trying to saw through the rest of the tape. I finally broke through and gave myself a congratulatory slap on the back.

“I see.” She came over to watch. “I’m Kateri. What’s your name?”

“Alice-,” I barely got it out before she interrupted.

“What a great name! It suits you.” She laughed.
“It’s pretty plain, I think.” I threw open the folds of the box to reveal about thirty blood boxes. They even had the little straws attached. “Yes!” There was a note folded up inside. I opened it up.
You forgot these when you left but I figured you couldn’t take them with you on the plane. I’ll send you more when you run out. I also set up a cell phone for you so we can keep in touch. I will tell you that I’ve become the new star here, once again. The master is back! Have fun with your new friends. I have to get your replacement soon. Bye! –Alex
“Ooh, who’s that from? Secret admirer? Although juice boxes aren’t very romantic. Not at all. Find someone else.” Kateri commented looking over my shoulder.

I laughed aloud, really loudly, on accident. “No, no. He was my trapeze partner at the circus. And they aren’t juice boxes, its blood. I’m a vampire.”

“Awesome! I’m a water nymph! If you couldn’t tell, I love blue. And water! Of course.” What a character… She seemed nice.

“Really? I used to love water but the whole vampire thing has given me a fear of it.” I looked at the cell phone inside and saw it was the new IPhone. I closed the box. I will love him forever. Quite literally.

“That’s too bad. I couldn’t live without the water. So how old are you really? Like 500 or something or maybe 600! That’s so cool! I couldn’t imagine being alive that long. The world has really changed hasn’t it? So do you act young or are you like an old hag in a teen body? With great clothes, I might add. Although it’s a little dark. Just a little. But it looks great on you! So exciting, meeting another vampire. Have you ever killed anyone? Wait don’t answer that!” She smiled really big.

Yeah, that last question hit a nerve. I was trying to forget. I wasn’t about to answer anyway. “Actually, I’m 119. I died when I was 18. Yes, it’s changed a lot but I don’t see most of it because I’m constantly training.” I searched around the fridge until I found an apple and took a bite after rinsing it off. Kateri was still hanging around.
“You’re bored, aren’t you?” I asked.
“Yeah. Everyone seems to be working on stuff.”
“You want to do something together? Watch a movie or anything?” I ask not really sure what I feel like doing.
Her eyes lit up. “You said you were in a circus. Can you show me some of your tricks? Please!?”

I didn’t want to disappoint her so I guess it wouldn’t hurt too much. The hallway had a lot of room so I started walking that way.

“So exciting!” Kateri clapped before I had even begun. I walked about halfway down the hall and began running into a round off back handspring. Thankfully the ceiling was high enough for my final dismount. I twisted in the air landing with perfect footing. It was a little hard running in socks too. I went into a handstand and made my way back over to Kateri who was standing in the hall with her mouth hung open. I flipped my legs over and stood up. Probably should’ve stretched first. I rubbed my lower back.

“Wow!” She applauded. “That was so cool. I wish I could see you on the trapeze. You can’t exactly bring one of those with you on a plane!”

“Nope!” Hehe I wish I would’ve brought my portable one. Man! It would’ve taken up a whole suitcase. Maybe Alex can ship it to me. I’m going to put him in debt.

“Okay, we can go watch that movie now. Have you seen Dolphin Tale? It looked really cute!” She said as we walked to find a free TV.

“I have not.” I said. Hmm, dolphins. Won’t hurt to watch. It felt nice to have a new friend. And it works out perfectly because I hate talking a lot and she loves talking apparently!

“You’ll love it! I brought it with me from my house. On the other side of the country! So far. The plane ride was awful. Crying babies, turbulence, you name it.”

“You too? I thought I was going to attack the whole plane.”

“It’s a good thing you didn’t! I’ll make some popcorn!”
“It’s morning.” I said. Popcorn in the morning? Where’s she from again?

“Who made that rule? Every time I watch a movie, I have popcorn. Well, not every time. I don’t want to gain too much weight. How do you stay so thin? Is it all that training you do? I can just imagine. Actually, I can’t. But it must be a ton of work. Hard work and diligence. And strength. How much do bench, like 200? I know vampires are strong. You could totally join a dojo and beat everyone singlehandedly. So cool! We’re going to be such good friends. Maybe we can swap clothes one day to throw people off!”

“I don’t do light colors. Reminds me of how I can’t go outside anymore.” I admitted.

“Really? Wow, that’s understandable. Must be awful. We’ll have to figure out a way to get you outside without burning your skin. I’m thinking one of those bee uniforms so you’re fully covered and huge sunglasses, extra sunblock and an umbrella. It’ll work. Yep! Let’s try it after the movie. And then we can watch Finding Nemo. I love that movie! The little fish are so funny. You can guess who’s my favorite. Dory, she blue, we’re just alike.”

This was going to be a long movie.
--------------------------------------------------------------

That night I spent the entire time putting apps on my new phone and picking out a wallpaper. So the whole bee costume thing is getting postponed to next week because Kateri just realized that we don't have one lying around. We ordered one online. On my new phone. With Internet. Hehehe. I'll be up all night now.

Alex sent me a video of him preforming with my replacement. Marcie. She thinks she's so great because she's a tightrope walker too. I can do that too! And you know what he says at the end of the video. Can you do that too? Put a sock in it. I'll show them when I get back. If I get back. I need that trapeze. I can set one up in the backyard. I'll go scale the place out tomorrow night. I'm too tired now. I drank another one of my blood boxes before settling in for the night. These things were gonna go like water during a country wide emergency. I better save them. I don't know when I'm getting another shipment. Sounds like drugs doesn't it? Anyway, I storing the box in the fridge so I can't keep drinking them. That would mean walking all the way downstairs repeatedly.

My curtains were still shut tight. I had changed into my PJs already and climbed into bed hugging the blanket to me. It was so soft. So much better than sleeping in a train car. A rickety, old train car. They were too cheap to buy another one. It's been a long day. Two ocean themed movies in one day! A record. I switched my lamp off and immediately dozed off to sleep.
