Once Upon A Time

I made my way down the stairs once again and snuck out the front door. I bet you're wondering, "She's a vampire, how can she go outside? What blasphemy?" Well, I just so happen to be very intelligent. I've been alive for quite some time. Not as long as others, but I had time to study while at the circus. As a vampire, you have to keep up with the times. Gotta stay cool, in the know...

I've never been more happy to see the FedEx truck pull away. Score! It was easy to lug this thing back in the house with my super strength in all. I should've ordered some cleats while I was at it. These boots were slipping. Well, back to what I was saying before, I've been up to some stuff. Inventing, you could say. I found my hidden talent. My niche. I've invented a sun spray! It's like super sun screen. Mwahahaha. I'm now a modified day walker!

So I'm really into this inventing thing now. I took the box and lifted it onto my shoulder, carrying it up the stairs to my room. I set the box down in my room mand sighed. Wow. Now that was a workout. I decided to set up my chemical lab. Yes, I ordered chemicals. I'm not sure how they finally agreed to sell them to me, underage and all without a license. I'll be fine. I'm already dead, what could happen? Ah! Radiation in the house! Nah.

I spread off a table next to my bed and set up my flasks and beakers. It was time to get my evil laugh on. I decided to practice when there was a sudden knock on the door. I nearly had a heart attack. My goodness. A head peeped through a crack in the door.

"What are you doing?" A very flawless looking girl appeared around the door.
"Um..." Caught at the wrong moment. "I'm embracing my inner nerd."
"Yes. Well, who are you?" She asked.
"I'm Alice, a vampire." I slapped my lab goggles on. Ouch.
"I'm Amor. I'm a Star Diwata." I nodded like I knew what that was.
"Nice, Nice." Why was her hair so perfect? I narrowed my eyes.
"Well, have fun with whatever you're doing."
"I'll make sure of that. Nice to meet you." I give a slight wave of my hand. She popped her head back out. Alright, let's get started. I picked up a bottle of hydrochloric acid-

"You know!" I nearly dropped the bottle out of my hand. It hit the table with a small tap. My goodness. "I'm curious to see how this is gonna turn out. Amor made herself into a chair in my room and scooted it across the floor.
"Make yourself at home!" I picked up the flask again.

"Do you know what you're doing?" Amor asked.
"Not at all." I respond. If someone were to blow up the world, I'd most likely be responsible.

"So where are you from?" She asked.
"I'm from France." I set up my hot place. I wasn't about to use a real flame. "What about you?"
"Mt. Kalatungan." I nodded once again like I knew where that was.
"Cool."

Another knock sounded on my door. Was it open house in my room today? It was the bunny girl Karin.
"Hey Alice, how are you?" she asked.
"I'm great, thanks for asking." she always seemed so cheerful.
"hi Amor."
Amor waved.
"Anyone else in the hall?" I laugh at my own joke. Yeah, wasn't really funny. I won't make jokes anymore.
"Hmm?" Karin asked and peeped her head outside. "Nope." She disappeared closing the door behind her. At least, I thought it was about to close when a foot landed in the doorpost keeping it open. I sighed very loudly in my head. Who now? No other than the famous Akira.

"I have a right to know what's going on under my roof!" Akira comes in and takes in my makeshift lab.
"I'm just doing some chemistry." I tried to give an innocent look.
"What if you blow up the house? What if someone breathes in toxic fumes. Take it outside at least."
"Fine."
"Oh, it's you." Amor noticed Akira. Akira gave her some sort of "look" and stormed out of the room. Great to see you too.

Eventually, I guess Amor got tired that I didn't blow anything up so I headed outside to become one with nature again. I took off running at full speed into the woods. I hadn't run for so long just in an open space. The wind felt great in my hair, messing up the five minutes it took to get all the tangles out. Running this fast reminded me of the night I turned.

I sat huddling in the corner of my cell. They'd left my locked in a padded room. There were many different reasons they locked me up. For one, they thought I was possessed. Two, they thought I was suicidal. I couldn't take this anymore. I should've never talked to my mother about my neck hurting. I didn't know what I was turning into. Or what lay ahead for me. The year was 1983. The year of my 18th birthday. So much for my college dreams. I wanted to do more than sit around the house all day. My mother was sure I'd be a florist because of my love of nature. I doubt it.

My teeth continued to hurt and I felt like a tooth was growing in or something. I would roll around of the floor for hours trying to relieve the pain. I clawed at the floor like a rabid animal trying to break out of a cage. My hair was unkempt as it hadn't been washed in about three weeks. That was when they locked me up. I was always hungry but when I was fed it would not suffice. It was as though I had no appetite for food. If I had to look at these white walls one more time, I was going to lose it. I was free in the mornings, and at night, they would tie me up in a straight jacket so I wouldn't hurt myself. As if I'd live eighteen years just to give up and die.

There was a knock on the door as two large men came in to take me. It was time for my check up with the doctor. They grabbed both my arms so tightly, I was sure there would be bruises when they lifted their arms. They took me down a hallway I often walked down when my family visited me twice a week. This week, though, they hadn't shown up. I was taken into the doctor's office and sat down in a chair, handcuffed to the chair. The doctor stood up giving me my daily inspection, checking my throat, temperature, blood pressure.

It was all going well until he took my blood pressure. I figured maybe it was too high, but that was the thing. There was no reading. He placed his fingers around my wrist to take my pulse, nothing.

"What kind of trick are you playing?" He asked me.
"I told you, she is possessed." One of the large men told the doctor. I shifted my head up looking around them. My long brown hair flew around my face as I tried to break lose. My body suddenly felt warm and not my own like I really was possessed. I screamed out in pain as my mouth felt like it was on fire.

"What's wrong with her!" The doctor asked. "Take her out of here!" He stepped back from the desk but suddenly, I felt energized. A great big burst of strength suddenly came up and overtook me. I felt the handcuff break and snap off my wrist and feet, demolishing the chair in the process. I bolted out of my seat with such a speed I wasn't sure what had just happened.

My body was moving on its own as I flung myself at the doctor. Something came out of my mouth and the next thing I knew, I had sunk my teeth into his neck. Or should I say fangs. What was I doing? Blood poured out of his neck into my mouth and suddenly, I was hungry no more.

The large guards tried to pry me off of the doctor who was now limp on the floor. Blood poured down my mouth and they took a step bath. They called me a demon and tried to ward me off with prayers. I flung my hand in front of them underestimating my strength. They were sent flying one by one across the room into the wall. Knocked unconscious. A thousand thoughts were floating through my mind and I couldn't fathom what was going on. All I remember after that was my racing through the halls of the hospital, finally free of my bondage.

I had turned into a creature. A vampire is what I had turned into. A creature of the night. I had turned into a demon, but once upon a time, I was human.

Ok, well, I finally wrote again. Next week I'll finish up Alice's history because I figured it was time to do a flashback. Sorry if it was long. HOpe you liked it!
