So, I included a bit from Aerith’s post (ie the battle to the errr not-death?...) before doing the transition. I figured that would be acceptable... Yeah...

Also, titles can go die in a hole. heh :3

Making us fight against each as if we were in the Roman Colosseum. How primitive. How cruel. I could hardly imagine what purpose this served.

It was as if no one recognized each other. Their eyes remained dull and lifeless, so I kept mine the same. There was no point in drawing extra attention to me.

No killing allowed. As if we would murder our friends. What were these fools thinking? We had banded together for comfort, for safety in numbers. Why would we purposefully harm our friends?

The fighting commenced. I found myself... shocked. Had they all gone insane? Lashing out at our companions. What vile treachery was this?

Ela was the first to target me. Perhaps it was... winged rivalry of some sorts, but I could not be certain. Her fist swung back, eyes aflame, as she sped forward. I refused to fight back. I would not hurt the only people I cared about.

I will not harm my family

I ducked, narrowly avoiding her attack. I am sorry for this. Not wanting to cause any serious harm, I swept my wings under her, catching her off guard. She fell, disoriented and seemingly delusional.

A flash of heat erupted beside my head, and stunned, I flinched away. Bellinda’s cruel grin met my eyes. She launched another fireball too quickly for me to dodge. It singed my shoulder, drawing a hiss from my lips.

Something inside of me snapped. A new sensation dominated my mind.

Not insanity. Not anger or hatred. Just... emptiness. I was hollow. Distraught. I quit.

I stopped moving. I became a statue in the center of the field.

I refuse to partake in this. Tears brimmed in my eyes, but I blinked them away.I will not cause any more damage. I will not become a pawn.

Though I struggled to remain pacifistic, the Angel took advantage of my still state. With a newly-acquired strength, he lifted me above his head, tossing me through the air.

The earth met my presence with a smile.

As the dirt enveloped me, I heard a snap and a sharp, familiar pain.

I thought breaking my arm once was sufficient.

My lungs craved air, but I could not move.

The darkness welcomed me, and as I had learned while in XL, it was better to embrace it than continue to endure the waking hours.

Soon, everything went black.

“Hurry up! He’s coming to!” Ah, yes, the notorious Hiraku. It was as if he thought he was in charge of the operation. But that would go against his first claim. “No one is.” I will end you. One day. “Are you deaf?”

“Sorry, sir. Here you are.” I opened my eyes. This voice belonged to a small woman. A girl, more or less. How despicable can these scientists get?

Hiraku seized my chin. “Oh, poor Griffin. Did you think you were going to be a hero again? I’m disappointed in your idiocracy.”

“I am sorry you are not pleased with your experiment,” I snarled, hoping to wriggle out of my bonds. I failed, naturally.

“On the contrary. You’ve been rather successful. Now for the second part of our plan. It’s time to release you.” I stopped thrashing. He had to be joking. “Of course, you won’t remember any of this treatment, but...”

“You...” No words surfaced, bile replacing them. This cannot be. I cannot forget. I will not forget.

“Give me the syringe.” His smile never left his face. “Goodnight, young Wyvern.” With that, he plunged the needle into my skin, injecting me with a fiery liquid yet again.

I fought against the urge to scream, the pain far worse than any I had ever faced. In the end, a final cry escaped my lips before I succumbed to the darkness.

“You know, you could’ve avoided this.” Cyrus floated before me, a patronizing and disappointed stare on his features.

“How? Our fate was inevitable.”

His expression faltered, eyes dimming. “No. No it wasn’t.”

“What?”

“I’m sorry, Griff. I’m so so sorry.”

“For what? Cyrus...”

“I can’t talk. You’re on your own. I’m so sorry, Griffin. I wish...”

He faded.

Along with the vision of him went the hours of torture, the bloodshed, the fear, the trauma. A few words darted through my mind. Angels, modifications, scales, Violett, Akira, Hiraku, Cyrus.

They vanished. Disappeared. I found myself... confused. Was I not to remember something? Had I not promised... someone?

All doubts were gone. Nothing remained but emptiness. Even so, I found my heart filled with guilt and a single, unspoken apology. To whom, I was not sure. My brother? My friends? My parents?

No...

Nothing...

It all vanished in the blink of an eye, never to resurface again.

Light poured in from the window, hitting me square in the eye. Startled, I sat up, immediately alert.

What a horrible nightmare... A few seconds passed as I yawned. ... And of course I cannot recall it now. As a grim smile found its way onto my lips, I slid off my mattress, finding my muscles aching and sore. Gah. What did I do last night? Confound Akira and her glamorized alcohol.

After tugging on a crumpled shirt in an appealing shade of rose, as Kateri had called it, I moved to the door. My stomach growled, yearning for something sweet to sate my hunger. It feels as though I have not eaten in days.

For some strange reason, I found myself repelled at the thought of serving the club their first meal, especially my favorite breakfast pastry, crepes. Perhaps it will pass. One can have too much of a good thing, after all.

With that, I set off to wake Akira. Gods forbid she miss a meal.
