Leaves

I walked round the corner of our apartment in Tuscany, trying to find my sister. “Kutari!” I yelled as I searched for her. Giggles sounded from round the corner so I ran in hope to find her.

“Kutari, this is not funny. We have to leave now! The nice man is here.” This seemed to be happing very often. She always made a run for it whenever we had to leave for a new location. It was especially had to get her to Italy and I didn’t want to image trying to get her into America. I ran past the Italian brick walls trying to find her. Sighing I pressed my hand into the wall, concentrating my energy into it. As the building turned invisible I spotted her. Calming my chakra, I flew into the blue. Over the houses and past the telephone lines. Finally I caught up to her. I grabbed her hand and she squealed as I tried to but her into the car. Her face was upsetting as she looked back at another house left. I held her hand tightly, just as we had done so for all these years. I wiped the tears away from her eyes and smiled.

“Kutari, I’ve said this many times but finally I’ve found us a permanent home, with people like us.” She looked up, her eyes shining like crystal.

“Really?” She asked in a trembling voice. I nodded and hugged her. Finally she would be happy, that is all I ever wanted. For her to be happy. She was my world, but she never glanced at me. Not after that incident, not after him. It pained me to think about someone who threatened her, my precious sister. The shirt I was wearing was loose and comfortable, my necklace was hidden behind it and my tattoo was hidden. I looked across at her, her tattoo was hidden and her necklace was tucked away. The expression on her face hadn’t changed; she was still acting like a spoiled child. Sighing I sat back in the leather seat waiting to arrive at the airport.

When we finally arrived we were greeted by a dark fellow under an umbrella, I assumed he was Sebastian. The little information I had been given made me curious about this ‘mythological creatures club’ and immediately I wanted to find out more. As I pulled Kutari through security and past the shops in the airport I thought about many things. This opportunity we had come across, the new lives we would be living. Then I thought about the people there, what if they died. Like the rest of them, the rest of the people that I trusted. Time had passed and in the end they all died. I didn’t want Kutari to experience that again. She fell in love too quickly and soon enough they died too. As we entered the plane, I stopped for a moment. I had realised how much I had controlled her. How many friendships she had to give up. The friends she lost, and especially Xavier. The only person she ever loved. Now she was like a completely different person. But then I looked at her, her snow white hair and sparkling eyes (even if they were hidden by sunglasses). Kutari needed this, we both needed this. It takes a life time to forget someone but the many years of my life that never seemed to apply. But we could turn over a new leaf, start anew. She smiled at me as the plane took off and only then I knew I had made the right choice.
