I used to have some Inspector Lynley books, but I never got around to reading them, and I think I donated them with a lot of other stuff to a used bookstore... which closed only a couple of weeks later. >>;
I know they made the Lynley series into a TV series just like Cadfael, so you could always start there. :)
Each pacemaker is good for a few years, so I definitely won't have to go through that particular procedure again til I'm almost 40. But we're going to start the ball rolling to see what we can do to get the operation down down here at home, because having to make a 3 hour ride up, staying in a hotel, getting it done, then 3 hours back... thats just more stress than I can deal with anymore.
I'm not too big of a thriller fan either. That's mainly the problem I encounter when hunting for mystery novels.
It does look like the books will be a little hard to locate, but I'm sure they will be worth it. It may have to wait until I have a steady source of income again, but I will definitely at least give one a try. :D This makes me think of another series I always wanted to check into, Inspector Lynley. I think that was the name of it. I had to order them too, and never got around to it. I don't think they are as hard to locate, but I never got around to getting one. I was kind of afraid it wouldn't be worth the money--which I'm sure I would've liked it as well.
I'm glad everything went well. ^_^ Waiting is the hardest part. I'd much rather go ahead and get it over with than wait. That gives me time to chicken out. lol Hopefully you won't have to go through any more surgeries for a long, long time.
I'm always hunting for good murder mysteries too. A lot of modern authors write stuff that's more thriller than traditional whodunnit, and I'm not so much a thriller fan.
I hope you can find some of the Cadfaels. One thing I didn't mention, so I wouldn't put people off, is that its not as easy to find copies these days. The major American publishers who used to make them don't anymore, I think, because I haven't found it in bookstores (except for used bookstores) in some time, and most online places sell the individual volumes for higher than normal prices. And frustratingly, the series has yet to be put into e-book format. But I think its a great series and worth a bit of a search. ^^
Good luck with your reading. :) You could still challenge yourself but set a more reasonable goal that works for you. ;)
Yes, I had surgery in November, a week before Thanksgiving, to replace my pacemaker. Things went well although the operation was delayed a day when the surgeons had to deal with an emergency, so it me the wait more excruciating. -3- Luckily though I was released to go home just a few hours afterward. :) Things are healed up and I'm doing all right.

Thanks for the recommendation! This sounds like something I would really like. I'm always on the hunt for good murder mystery books, but can't ever seem to find what I'm looking for. I will definitely look into it, and the other authors you mentioned. ^_^
Good luck with your challenge! I'm going to try to read more books this year as well. There's no way I could do fifty, but I do plan on getting back into the habit of reading.
Also, I hope you've been doing well. I haven't been on here as much these past few months, and I seem to recall you having to have surgery. I hope everything went well.
