a gamer's thoughts, pt 2.

i really don't know what i'm goin' to talk about with this one. i was raging yesterday, but i'm a little more chill today. hm.. well, as i've already told friendly user Crimson-Rose that i'd talk about pokemon, i guess we'll go with that first.

so, pokemon. i'm a huge pokemon fan. now, i've been playing since i was about.. when was it released in america.. '98? 9 years old, i believe i was. i loved it ever since. fast forward a decade plus and here i am, still playing pokemon. i loved the old games, i wish i could play them again without emulating them. it was a simpler time. it was a more heartfelt pokemon era. movin' on to generations. personally, my favorite gen is gen 2, silver and gold. favorite pokemon from gen 2, quilava. i loved the game. it was so amazing, the new little details, the new pokemon and the music. loved the music. i'd sit around azalea town all day and just listen to the music. anyway, not only did you get to travel around johto, but *spoiler alert* you can travel back to kanto as well. i thought that was just awesome. getting to see how things have changed, how people have changed challenge old, and new, gym leaders. i loved it. so, that's my favorite gen. now, on to the complaints. not about the games, but the fanbase. "these new pokemon suck, they just don't make sense anymore." i've heard that before, and to be honest, i've said it myself when i saw black and white. they don't make sense, i mean ICE CREAM POKEMON?! c'mon, game freak.. BUT. when you overlook that factor, those unusual pokemon (very unusual like lamps and candles, a goddamn washing machine), and you get into the game, it's awesome. there are additions to the gameplay mechanics, yet it still has that great nostalgic feel to it. it was the game that was expected when i bought it: pokemon. i don't get (other than the pokemon) what everyone's deal is with it. then again.. i've seen mainly the pokemon as the deal. but, here and there, i'd see "the same this, the same that." so what? that's the reason i play pokemon. "well, now there's this ev training, all this stat boosting, dw pokemon." .. alright, you got me there, i don't very much understand all that either, but that comes at a later point in time. but, crimson-rose, i don't think this is what you were really trying to point out, and i'm sorry. i'll just say it, i don't get why people are so opposed to the new gens. i like 'em, love 'em honestly. it's pokemon, people! game freak has found a formula and has gloriously succeeded with it time and again. with that said, i am extremely excited for pokemon x and y. fennekin, you will be mine.

i forgot about work, and i really gotta get going. maybe i shouldn't do these mere minutes before i have to work. well, whatevs. this may be a multi-part discussion. or you can suggest things that you'd like me to rant about. i've said this before, but it's worth another shot. anyway, see you around, everyone.
