One of my favorite anime of all time, and one of my favorite quotes of all time.

"Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage." - Lao Tzu

The quote really fits Nanami's and Tomoe's situation... whereas Nanami suddenly is borne with the responsibility of being the land god of Mikage Shrine, her feelings for Tomoe help her to realize her full potential and succeed in her duties to become the best land god she can be.

Tomoe, on the other hand, is somewhat forced into his relationship with Nanami, but after time passes, he begins to warm up to her. Through realizing his love for her, finds the strength within himself to completely turn his personality around for her sake.

Watching Kamisama Kiss, plus rereading the quote from Lao Tzu, really encourages me to both love strongly, and love courageously. While fictional with many fantasy elements that aren't as prevalent in our world, Kamisama Kiss is a wonderful source of encouragement to those that are afraid to love honestly and wholeheartedly, a message I carry deeply within my heart.
