Thanks so much for the constructive criticism! *^.^* You're right for these kinds of pictures I'd like to try shading them a bit better. I think I might try that sometime in the summer, when I have time ^.~ The problem with anime is that the shading is usually wrong/out of proportion though, so I intend to look into Disney-style shading because Disney's artwork is done perfectly! ^.^ Yay! More kids movies for me! *^.^*
Aw, so sad looking! There's a lot of emotion in this piece. I like how you apply the red to the black and white.
Oh! Oh! I have a suggestion with your paper problem! Most sketchbooks claim to have good paper for pencil, charcoal, pastels, etc...the problem with that is that it means the paper is ROUGH! It has too much texture woven in so although it holds the mediums well...it makes them look more sketchy.
I recommend getting yourself a bad of Smooth Bristol Paper. They come in pads and you can tell by just rubbing your hand over them, that they're nice and smooth. That's the best paper for black and white pencil.
Another kind of paper that is actually incredibly lovely, is the cheap hard-cover sketchbooks they sell at Barnes & Noble! They are sold with little art sets in the Bargain Books area and not only are the pretty on the outside with a silk ribbon inside to hold your place, but the paper is iiiiiiiiincredibly smooth!

Amazing! X3
I don't know what you should do with your scanner. o.o But I remember that an art teacher used to spray drawings with something. A special spray that preserves drawings. Especially ones that are done with pencil. It prevents them from smudging or something. Maybe you can look into that? I'm sorry I don't know the name of the product. T.T

cool! I don't really see what you are talking about for mistakes.. but I like! ^_^
I shall give you some construcktive critisism cus I love getting it.
I think it needs some shadding, to make it look real,. unless you were going for that kind of drawing with no shading then it looks great! ^_^
