Lol I had wondered that too. I think it's because Alfons was a pretty big character in the movie, as was Al, so there had to be obvious differences in them so that you could tell them apart. That's just my theory though. They did look alike, if you just change the hair and eyes! Same facial structure, pretty much. But when those features change, it makes a big difference!

(That's something I don't understand... If everyone on the other side of the Gate is supposed to look exactly like their double [Hughes, Gracia, Bradley ect.], then why do Alfons and Alphonse look so different, and have different last names [Hughes is Hughes, and Bradley is Bradley... And Alfons is Heiderich?]? I don't think nationality is an excuse... *picky picky*)
