I was bored one day, as usual, and decided to do a search for �anime contests� and behold, this contest came up. Sure, the prizes captured my eye, as they would for others, but it also made me think of my mom and a lot of other people I know who had breast cancer. The funny thing was, a few days before, someone was getting tested for it� Well, when I found it and read it, I decided to do it, for my mom and those others who made it through. However, being as picky as I tend to be, I wanted something with a catchy title or slogan. I went through many different options, thinking along the lines of pirate, ninja, nurse, angel, marathon runner� but nothing clicked. Trying to think of something good for a picture, my head started to hurt, so I went in to play Final Fantasy and it clicked. I remembered the Cure spell immediately and knew I was going to base my picture on it. Doing so, I drew a Female Magic User, with a witch like hat and flowing outfit. I wanted to also put in some symbolism to my picture, as I thought it would add a nice touch. One, for example, is her cape, which is actually a pink ribbon, for the pink ribbon that symbolizes breast cancer awareness. This had been an idea I really wanted to portray in my picture. Her staff is made of wood and wrapped up in pink, showing how strong and study women are when facing it, despite being injured or beaten. Her ribbon on her hat is also another breast cancer awareness ribbon and the stars are to show how people still wish for a cure. The overall picture shows the determination to actually �cast a cure� for the cancer. Also, the picture is colored in a various shades of pink and magenta, and I colored on the computer, in means to show the advancements made in the search for a cure. Extremely pleased with how this turned out, I proudly present to you �Casting the Cure.�
