When she was young her love (she was 12 when she married him. His name was Lu Xian) died of illness. She grew so depressed that she wanted to disappear, sick of her life. Eventually her wish drew Fei to her, who enlisted her and gave her the ability to disappear. The catch however, is that everytime Mei Mei does turn invisible she loses a bit of her memory. Fei has bound Mei Mei to her with her threads of fate, which is what keeps her minions immortal. A bit of background info on the character....just thought you might want to know.
