Time for self indulgent, baseless speculation in the form of a massive fuckin' Sue.
This is Quexque Aikaikō, and she’s a Mew Mew. She’s quite not sure how it happened, but what other explanation could there be?
She's seen them on television and in the media; the girls who defend the world. And there seem to be more of them all the time. A cynical environmentalist, Quexque’s always wanted power like that.
Up until a few months ago, all she could do was raise awareness, writing in the school newspaper about climate change and activism. But suddenly, everything changed in an instant.
Quexque had been covering the local mistreatment of exotic animals, and while following a lead, she suddenly found herself witnessing a truck unloading ill gotten rare species in a backalley. As she snapped photos, she didn’t realize that the precious cargo was luring attention from the Predasite menace plaguing the city.
The exotics were quickly infected, becoming Chimera Anima. Quexque, seeing no other option, got ready to scrap with the monsters to protect the civilians nearby from their rampage. In doing so, Quexque tapped into a previously dormant ability and transformed, instinctively using the sword she found in her hands to purify the Chimera Anima with the first phrase that sprang to her lips immediately, “Ribbon Quexque Bolide!”.
At this point, Quexque truly believes she’s a Mew Mew, albeit with a strange uniform. What she doesn’t know is that she’s the furthest thing from it. It’s not a coincidence that Quexque’s attack is one word off from the Blue Knight’s, nor is it that her abilities were born from a desire to defend.
Masaya Aoyama wasn’t Deep Blue’s only potential vessel; he was one of several, among them Mashio Akai and Masazo Aoyamada. Quexque is an artificial Cyniclon hybrid, meant to be a shell and nothing more.
Human individuality, however, does strange things, and Quexque eventually came to the realization that she wasn’t male, instead identifying with the feminine. Quexque’s descision to actively shape her identity, alter her wardrobe, and rename herself indicated that she had become too individuated to serve as a vessel, so Deep Blue abandoned the thought of possessing her.
After Deep Blue’s spirit was exorcized from Masaya’s body, and the other vessels having more or less formed personalities of their own, Deep Blue is incapable of manifesting physically and was defeated. However, upon Quexque’s ability to transform resurfacing, she ironically becomes Deep Blue’s only chance to exact revenge on the humans who defeated him. Unfortunately, he’s only capable of manifesting incorporally, and so he begins a campaign to get Quexque on his side. Whether or not this will be effective remains to be seen.
I put a lot of effort into this idiot’s backstory; so have some fun trivia.
Quexque initially didn’t have a ‘food name’, but chose her own name partially because she enjoys foraging and other sustainable food gathering. She liked it because it matched her last name and she thought it was pretty. Her name in Japanese is クエ助 藍海溝, translating as Quexque (Indigo Milkcap Mushroom) Blue Deep Sea Trench.
One last thing, to be completely clear, Quexque’s genderfluid. I’ll eat folks’ spleens if anybody gets shitty in the comments; canon’s all in for non cishet stuff; Mint and Zakuro are most definitely insinuated to be an item, Sweet Juilet and Tasuku are far from gender conforming, too.
