This is my entry for a EdxWinry fan club's New Life contest. I decided to put it in FMA category because it's 2/3rd's FMA characters. With just one OC, that's not a Mary Sue, I feel this is entirely appropriate! As soon as I saw the theme, the one and only idea that popped in my head was that meant a child (Only after I was done w/ my art, I looked back at the contest guidelines and saw they had clarified it better and mentioned that it could mean a kid! -.-). I really shouldn't be doing another contest since I'm 0 for 3 on winning so far! -_- But once again, the theme sprang an idea in my head and I just had to do it! I'm also hoping since the contest deadline is on my B-day, that it'll be lucky for me! ~,~ This is a first for me as I have NEVER created another character on paper before (only in my head), I just don't do it. I've of course seen and read others works that gave Ed and Win a kid or two but never made one up from scratch! 0.0 I named her Edwina, since it's a combination of their names and a real name as well (I had a neighbor by that name!). I gave her Ed's eye color, Win's eye shape and mixed both hair color and styles to get her. I admit she does look a lot like another character in the series, (I won't mention who so I don't give you any ideas! -.-) because I had to get some idea of what a kid should look like FMA style! This originally was a pastel drawing but I quickly discovered I cannot color small details or just in general in pastels at all! ;.; I scrapped that idea and just went back to good ol' digital art hoping that it would take away from my sucky drawing! X( The frame idea came last when I was trying to come up w/ a background and one of the gradients I was working w/ had an oval effect and then the frame idea popped up! ^^ I also decided to get rid of my black outline which I usually leave in on my works and am pretty pleased w/ the result. I'm hoping it takes away from the sucky drawing! X( The idea of her grasping Ed's fingers also didn't come until I was actually drawing it (in my head she was just reaching for him). Then I realized that meant I would have to draw his automail since I stupidly put his right arm out front! (I usually turn him the other way so I don't have to deal w/ it! -.-) Even though on my very first FMA art I drew and colored Ed's whole arm and swore never to do it again, I realized I had no choice this time, since I didn't want him to be wearing gloves. Also, I felt the act of her touching his metal hand meant she was comfrotable w/ it and that concept was very touching to me. X) After fixing everything a billion times over and working on it over 20 plus hrs., I'm pretty satisfied w/ it. It still didn't turn out how I wanted but, I'm okay with that. Colored in PSC2.
