New York, New York~ ♥
I haven't submitted a piece for so long now *sigh* I hang my head in shame when I admit that I haven't been drawing as much as I should. D: All I've been doing was scribbling and doodling around... which is better than nothing I guess.
Aaa~aah, New York 8D I like the atmosphere there, not sure if I can live there though...no, more like "not sure if I can even afford coffee there" xD I'll just stick with Tim Hortons' coffee; it's just like Starbucks, but for poor college students! ;D
lol New York invokes class, high fashion, (expensive coffee, I need my dose of cheap, yet tasty latt), glamour with a nice hint of sophistication. It's definately a place full of culture and diversity, a city full of opportunities where you can reach as high as the skyscrapers or even higher. (This contest also presents a great opportunity as a first step to break through into the art scene... hopefully!! V^.^)
Here, I present you my portrayal of this year NYAF mascot. I use the character design of the protagonist from my upcoming comic project (there's another drawing of her in my portfolio, feel free to browse). I dressed her in a typical I HEART NY tee with an added pun 8D, put her in baggy denim (comfort is key ppl). However, I gave her KILLER HEELS!! *BANZAI~!!* 8D So there's a lil hint of high fashion lol I drew her very long and slender with voluptuous curves of course (I didn't plan to make her so tall though O_O;; oh well, it gives a little top model feel to her), a bit CLAMP-esk style with a very bold outline, yet it has this nice swift and flow to it. I went very vivid with the denim jeans and hair but gave a very soft pink/peachy skin tone.
I was hesitant about whether to give her a fierce or gentle expression. As you can see, I opted for the latter. Her pose on the other hand is a lot stronger and bolder but with a laid-back feel to it. (lots of things you have to consider... lol)
Hope you'll enjoy this piece. Sankyuu for viewing! Best of luck to all contestants!
