I was bored and decided to fool around in inks, mostly for shading practice. I started out with blue and black (the central stuff). I'm only happy with the shadow-y dude in the center. Then later I used the same paper for the others, but I only had red and green ink. For these I decided to try out two different techniques which I was referring to as traditional shoujo and shounen. In the mangas I own, the shounen ones use the inks to do majority of their shading whereas the shoujo relies heavily on smooth screen toning (I'm sure there are exceptions, I'm just basing it off what I own). So with the green dude I relied on the ink and cross-hatching for shading which ended in some dark looking guy (but he looks cool) and then with red girl I tried a smooth type shading with the pen (epic fail). Then at the bottom I was just fooling around and doodling the difference between the smooth shading and cross-hatching. If you notice the eyes are also different (but not very. So much for that idea).
Then comes YOSHI! I do not own him in any way. I drew him in pastels, because everytime I see pastels I get the urge to draw Yoshi's Island Yoshis. Why? Because back when that game was released, my parents gave me pastels and I spent the whole time drawing Yoshi's Island with them. So pastels and Yoshi are permanently bonded in my mind XD
