so, brace yourself for a long explanation of this one, which you don't particularly have to read; just not that these are not my characters: they're from a book. i've loved philip pullman's "his dark materials" trilogy since i was something like 9. most of you have probably seen or heard of the movie "the golden compass" which is based on the first book in the series. i personally haven't seen it yet and i dread seeing it :D
i'll complain through the whole damn thing. i hate it when they make books i love into movies.
anyway, they haven't yet defaced the third book, "the amber spyglass," and that's where these two characters come from. they are the Chevalier Tialys and Lady Salmakia and they're little people called gallivespians, about a handspan high. they have poison spurs on their heels that they can sting people with, stunning or killing them. they're very proud and fierce, so they don't put up with any cracks about their size. they ride large dragonflies. despite pullman's gift for description, he never really describes these two at all, except a brief overview of the kind of clothing they wear. i think they're awesome characters and i have a current inexplicable obsession with drawing them because i have a very clear picture of them in my mind. although Tialys really, really would not cooperate; he still does not look right at all. Salmakia was pretty good for me. :D
i'm not good at drawing older people, but i envision these two to look somewhere in their middle to late thirties, although they only live about 9 years.
so, sorry for that, i usually hate long-winded explanations, but i felt for this one it was necessary XD
