Patience, Fortitude, Manga ~ the three qualities necessary to preserver through life. Yes, manga is both a quality and a necessity to survival

Once again, I learned of the contest the same day it was due ^_^; (I'm lucky, I guess ~ but at least this time I wasn't squiggling out zombies at four in the morning while technically asleep TT_TT). I actually got it finished before the 11:00 c/t deadline, a whole two minutes early whoohoo XD

It was already rather late in the evening when I started so I just drew the three characters and the tree for about five minutes, went over a few of the lines with a heavier pencil, erased a few things here and there, and then went straight to coloring. I didn't think it needed inking since the edges the pencil made went well with the picture (at least as a line drawing). I don't do coloring much, but I rather like the way it came out ^_^.

When I think of New York, I think of three things: Central Park, The New York Public Library Main Branch, and the mass of New York Apartment dwellers.

Those who live in New York apartments (and houses, too) always seem to fight harder over those where you can see some green. You know, on top of the regular amount of fight needed for the impossible-to-find-a-half-way-decent-apartment kind of real estate market NYC has ^_^;. I remember a friend of mine who whose to live there once told me, "There's a tree by my apartment! I can see it from my window! You know if I sit kinda in the corner, and I look at a certain angle, I can see the top left portion of a maple ~ but still a tree, what a find! XD" The tree, coat, covered volume of manga, and girl represent those who love the urban forest of New York City.

And then, of course, the two lions represent the two lions who guard the Main Branch of the New York Public Library ~ Patience and Fortitude (so cute, those statues ). Imagine, miles and miles of shelves packed with the extremely old and rare (books ) collected for 150+ years ~ even an actual Gutenberg Bible!!! If only those same shelves could house at the same time and in the same space miles and miles of manga Ah, Bliss ^-^
