I entitled it "A Baker's Dozen" because in the 13th century, a law has been passed to have a certain weight for bread. If your bread fell short of the required weight, you will loose a hand. So to be sure, bakers at that time adds another loaf of bread to a set of 12 loaves, thus the phrase, 13 loaves on a baker's dozen.
13 is also called the devil's dozen since 13 is considered an unlucky number.
