Edward and Alphonse are at a Central library, studying more about the Philosopher Stone, when Edward starts feeling nauseous. At first, he was just going to shrug it off and deal with his problem later.
Alphonse: Brother? You don't look so good, are you alright?
Edward: It's just a little stomach thing, nothing to worry about.
Al: Are you sure? Your face looks very pale.
Ed: Al, I said I'll be fine. This is no big...no big...(pants and starts blinking his eyes)
Suddenly, Edward bolts out of his chair and races out of the library, with his hands clamped on his mouth. Alphonse follows after him. Moments later, Alphonse finds his brother in the alleyway behind a bush on his hands and knees throwing up. Alphonse kneels on the ground beside Edward.
Edward: I'm so sorry. I was trying to keep it together in there.
Alphonse: No need to apologize about getting sick. You're under a lot of pressure, being a state alchemist and all.
Edward: (starts crying) If I'm going to be like this...I can't afford to get sick. What if we get called upon by Mustang? I just can't tell him I'm sick.
Al: (rubs Ed's back.) It's okay. I'll help you get through this. If he calls, I'll say you aren't well. I think there's a bug going around Central that's making people sick. I'll say you've caught it.
Edward: I think it's coming back again.
Alphonse: Then I'll stay here and hold back your hair for you.
Edward: What if I get sick on you though?
Alphonse: Then I'll transmute it into dirt.
Edward: Thanks, Alph...Alph (starts puking again)
Alphonse: That's what brothers are for.
