Title: Fright Night
The Story:
For Gohan and the others it all started as a typical high school costume party for Halloween. After about an hour or so, all the lights would go out, and strange things would start to happen. Strange messages would start to appear, and a strange voice would be heard. Suddenly loud shriek was heard, a glowing red circle would appear around Videl…her body began to change and the others can only watch in horror as a demon we’ll call Drusilla slowly took control of her.
My Take:
It’s that time of year again, but this time we’ve got a change of pace from my usual Halloween theme. I decided I wanted more of a “horror movie” feel to it this time, and what better way to express that theme than to throw in a demon possession? I also felt it was appropriate to keep it dark rather than to have an elaborate background, (which I’m not too good at anyway)
Before I forget, it was a costume party after all so I’ll give a rundown of their costumes:
Gohan as Ron Stoppable
Videl as Kim Possible
Sharpener as Mr. Satan
Erasa as Videl
What I Like Most:
I think Erasa’s expression turned out the best here. I’ve never tried an expression of fear before, I think it came out great here, and I think adding tears there only added to it. I didn’t do too badly with Videl either, I think I did well having her reach out with everything else happening to her. The ”mystery message” was a pretty good idea as well, and I like it even better that I wrote it backwards.
What I Dislike Most:
I’m sure you know by now that I have to gripe about something, even though he didn’t come out too badly, I still think I could have done better with Gohan, and I’m not too convinced about Sharpener’s hair either. I’m sure I could have done better there as well.
Final Thoughts:
This was an interesting little project, but I had lots of fun with it, and I won’t rule out doing something similar to this sometime down the road.
For those of you that are new to my drawings, I use a different style than you are used to. This style is most noticeable when I do DragonBall characters. I have nothing against the original style, but I’m not going to try to be someone that I’m not. I want to have a style of my own.
