Gaara: I've been told my whole life I was a freak.
Orihime: By who?
Gaara: My whole village. Everyone in the Sand Village told that to me.
Orihime: But you aren't one. Everyone in your village are idiots.
Gaara: But I am one.
Orihime (embraces him): Listen, you aren't a freak. You're a normal human being. Back in your youth, you had trouble controlling the sand. When your powers are brand new to you, that happens.
Gaara: You sound as though you speak from experience. Do you have trouble controlling your powers?
Orihime: On many occasions, yes I've had trouble. But again, that's normal.
Gaara: I just...Orihime, in my whole life this is the first time anyone has treated like a normal person. I'm not though...
Orihime: If it makes you feel any better, I'm not all that normal either. But that's what makes us unique. You're special, Gaara. You've got a good heart. You're a sweet man. You're as normal as anyone else, and yet your sand powers are what make you special.
Gaara: Your words are so comforting to me. I just...(he sighs deeply) I can't do this. I must pull myself together. (tries pulling away from her embrace.)
Orihime: What's the matter?
Gaara: After so long, I've learned not to cry. My eyes have dried up and I'm not...
Orihime: There's nothing wrong with that. (embraces him harder) Listen, if you need to cry, go ahead.
Gaara: But I can't.
Orihime (tears pour down her face): I'm crying for you now. After hearing about your lonely life, about everyone you know calling you a freak, crying is the very least I can do for you.
Gaara: Ori...Orihi...I... (tears well in his eyes) Thank you.
