well, this was supposed to be an entry for the 'design a beat girl' contest for the magazine shojo beat. i worked on this entry for 3 weeks from start to finish, and i ran into a couple of snags

1) i was looking for background photos to manipulate and i came across a disturbingly similar entry from a good artist on dA. they had an obi belt, pencils in the hair and a few other similiarities. not being deterred by the likeness of our drawings, i decided to continue with my entry.

2) i finally finished my entry and i was about to submit it to the shojo beat website when the first thing i see is a statement saying 'due to unforseen cicumstances we have decided to cancel the shojo beat girl design contest. we apologize to all who were working on entries'. this made me sad. so i figure i'd submit it here, so it wasn't a total loss.
