Okay, this is a repost of the Art=Feel challenge. I originally did this for the Creepy Nursery Rhyme challenge. Inspiration: Bobby Shaftoe
Bobby Shaftoe went sea,
Silver buckles on his knee,
He'll come back and marry me.
Pretty Bobby Shaftoe
Booby Shaftoe's fine and fair,
Combing down his auburn hair,
He's my love forever more.
Pretty Bobby Shaftoe.
So I guess I automatically thought of a sort of "A Rose for Emily" situation.
She loves this man, whether for who he is or just what he looks like. But maybe he rejected her, or just didn't notice her. Or she may just be that insecure. So to make sure he won't ever leave her.... If you still need help, view full and look at the bottles on the bottom shelves.
She's wearing a wedding dress, and that's a ring that she's putting on his finger. Just to make it official.
This is in older times so hence the mutton-leg sleeves and whatnot. I worked hard on the hands. I drew this all with a mechanical pencil and then inverted the colors on MSPaint. You can see more detail that way, around the hands especially. And the lace looks more like lace. Unfortunately, this probably the best thing I've ever drawn.
The feeling, to me, is just disturbing. While this is no longer an original idea (I've read so many short stories where this kind of thing happens) it's still just icky. I almost stopped drawing it a few times. I've always thought subtlety is scarier that blood everywhere. But maybe my imagination is more sensitive than other's. And people are really the only thing I'm afraid. They don't look like monsters, no claws, fangs, red eyes. They look like everyone else. You can never tell with people.
