Autumn in January. That's how long it too me to make this. How sad. OK, so I put it down for a few months to do some other stuff, but that's still sad.
Anyway, here's a picture of Deidara sharing a peaceful moment with one of his clay birds, right before he detonates it. I didn't want to draw him with his usual reckless expression, and luckily I found a reference picture of him looking more pensive. I like how he came out. Especially his eye. I should draw more eyes like that.
The bird was just a little improvisation. It looks ugly. Please ignore it.
I got the idea for the awful excuse for a background from the reference picture of Deidara. I've done too many pictures with a blue sky and green grass, so I'm glad I made this one a little different. Even though I flunk at drawing leaves. Well, there's always room for improvement.
The picture was fun to make. But it was tedious work. I used about 5 shades of grey in his outfit. And when I started shading everything, I realized how many mistakes I had made when inking. Still, it was fun, but kinda frustrating. Does that make me a masochist?
This picture was made with pencil, pens, and colored pencils (which kept breaking) on sketch paper.
Please do not post this picture without permission, claim it as your own, et cetera. There is a reason my signature is on it.
This picture is dedicated to KUYZO who drew a similar picture of Deidara and wanted to see my interpretation of the picture we both referenced.
