Just burning the paper and taking a picture of it was much easier than trying to replicate burned edges in Photoshop. I think too often, people overlook simple "real life" solutions in favor of complicated digital work-arounds.

He's a cute little dragon. I'm sure he didn't mean to incinerate those three gnomes. At least they don't seem too upset by it.
