Fenrir is the eldest child of Loki, a michevious god that shape shifts. He was a horrible, brutal wolf creature in Norse mythology, a creature that no one could harness or hinder his growth and chaotic behavior. The gods could not bind him in fetters for they would be broken by his monstrous strength. He was eventually tied down by a magical chain, Gleipnir, made by dwarves. Only the god Tyr could bind him, costing him his own hand in the process. He was then brought down inside the earth and chained to a rock, a sword in his mouth to prevent him from biting. Someday, we would break away from those chains and fight in revenge.
This was actually an extra art project that I did 2 years ago in my drawing 2 class, and I had finished it over the summer. It would not fit in the scanner and I had to take a picture of it with my mom's camera, so it might not be the best quality. My teacher gave me the idea of the woven ribbons look, so I could practice drawing folds in different ways. The frayed and broken ends of the ribbons reminded me of how Fenrir could not be tied down and broke everything in his path.
I love Norse mythology. It can kick Greek and Roman mythology's asses! =P
