I really like to put regular people with their chibi counterparts. Well, okay, I did it once. Still counts!
But moreso than that, I love creating expressions of "wtf is this I don't even". Hurr.
AND NOW WHAT I'M GOOD AT: WRITING THINGS!
-----------------------
When did you begin drawing?
That is a...really good question. I've been drawing as far back as I can remember. Looking back, I love how I drew people in kindergarten - circles with legs attached. No arms or torsos, it was awesome.
Did you create your own style or is it an inspiration/mixture of many different famous styles?
I have one goal: I don't want to be an anime artist. Ironic considering I draw in a style that would automatically be called "anime". But I hate the negative reputation it has in the art world, and as I'm pursuing a BFA, it's important that I care. >> Oh, I will defend it, but I would rather not be labeled as one.
That being said, I obviously drew inspiration from anime throughout the ages, but really I can't tell you how I got mine. I say it draws from my two favorite manga-ka, Kiyohiko Azuma and Hiromu Arakawa, plus using what I've learned in art classes throughout my schooling.
How long have you been sticking to your style?
In the past few years, I've changed my style about once a year, but over the past year I've just been tweaking things here and there. My current phase has been going for about four months now (but this is totally minor tweaks, if you want to be general about it, I'd say a year).
Are you satisfied enough to keep your style going far into the future or do you still think there is room for improvement?
I am always satisfied, but always changing. My style changes whenever it does; it's not something I do consciously. Come back in a year, we'll see.
