This is Kayumi, a character I had for a long-dead story I was working on. This one I wasn't nearly as serious about, because it was a contest between me and another girl on whose writing was better, because she had gotten it into her head that she was the next Stephenie Meyer. I won. And yes, I'm 90% sure what happens to her is impossible, but this is a story about a vampyre. It isn't supposed to be.
But I digress. Kayumi lives with her mother, father, and two sisters. She is fifteen, and forever will be. Two years ago, she was walking home from school with her little sister. Every day they had to walk through a bad part of town to get to their house. Her mother didn't like it, but Kayumi insisted they were fine. One day, she and her sister are pulled into an alley by a gang of rogue vampyres. They tell her sister, Hana, to shut up and stay still or they were going to kill her. They drank from Kayumi, taking too much of her blood. They can't kill her, that would draw attention to their existence. Instead, they take blood from Hana, putting it into Kayumi's body. Kayumi lives, but her and her sister's blood types don't match. Because of her quasi-vampyre state (drinking from a human makes them a half-breed), the blood in her veins is harmless. But if it gets out of her veins, her life is in danger. Her sister, Hana, has nothing from the incident but the terrible memory and a large scar on her stomach.
Kayumi is ostracized by her family, her mother and father living in fear of her. They ignore her the best they can, but they do whatever she wants from them out of fear. Her sister, Hana, remains loyal to her, however and keeps her in touch with reality. After a frightening incident with her blood getting into her mouth and stomach, she is taken to the hospital. There was no other choice. But the hospital finds out about her state and, terrified, treat her. But now, everyone knows what she is. Her family forces her to leave, and half-breeds are treated worse than humans. They are free blood, because they aren't supposed to bite humans. She soon stops fighting and lets herself be taken to a 'house'. It is basically a half-breed brothel, with the plus side of their blood. But soon, she truly surfaces and fights, gaining her freedom, and ultimately, a life of acceptance.
Sorry for the long, lame description, but that's her background. I might cut her from that story, paste her into a different one and change her life story. Tell me if I should, please! Your feedback is very important.
