This is Ethan.. Pretty much his story is he's from a clan of shamans that are bound to a plot of land known as the End of the World, because it was the last place in the universe that came into being during Creation. Because of this, it's dimensional boundaries are weak, allowing monsters from other worlds to enter Earth.
The spirits his family revered sacrificed what little power they had left to bless Ethan, and make him the ultimate guardian of the Rifts (the gates which the monsters used to cross into Earth). But his power and the markings on his body resembled the monsters from the Rifts, and his family shunned him and his power. But now with no spirits to back their prayers, their shamanistic power was rendered useless. Now Ethan is the only thing standing between Earth's survival and the beasts of the Rifts.
