Blah blah blah practice blah blah blah! But here, let's have some long and unruly explanation:
These guys are all from the same story of mine, The Song of Roland, a sort of AU coming-of-age story. It revolves around 3 characters, Roland (the main character), Dominic, and Kynan, each of whom vie for the rule of their kingdom. Although the three come from different families and different backgrounds, they become best friends (or in Kynan's case, reluctant acquaintances). The competition between the families is fierce, though, and in the end, only one man can rule. The Song of Roland follows their lives from their entrance into training to the eventual succession of the past king; along the way, years of love, loyalty, treachery and honor intertwine to form a political drama that probably no one cares about.
Aaaaand that's about it. From left to right, here are the characters!:
Roland - titular character. His family from the slums of the kingdom was miraculously given the title of nobility by a friend and benefactor (Travis, from another story of mine, the Cartographer). With a heart of gold but weak competitiveness, if success means losing his friends, Roland would fall into failure any day.
Emery - Roland's younger sister. Wise beyond her years, she provides insight and a kind and listening ear to the characters. Under an agreement between families, she is betrothed to Kynan, thusly developing a strong bond with the introverted boy.
Dominic - Roland's best friend and competition. Dominic plays life by the ear, so while he is a calm, kind, and level-headed person, he is inefficient and lazy because he lacks the desire to plan ahead.
Kynan - Roland's one-sided friend and competition. While Kynan is the most driven and intelligent of the competitors, he is ruthless and cunning in his ways of working; his fiery temper and cold disposition mix to form a dangerous personality.
Azeda - Commoner and Dominic's love interest. By catching the eye of Dominic, Azeda eventually winds her way into the lives of the nobility; her street smarts allow the main characters to see life from a different perspective.
I HOPE THAT'S ENOUGH.
