This is Jericen. He is the main character in my book “War or the Remorphs.” (Yep it is published.) He is a member of a shape-shifting race, the Remorphs. At the beginning, his people are attacked and he escapes left to fend for him self, being only about six or so. Once he gets better control of his abilities, he lives with forest folk, like gypsies and not like elves. Once he grows up, he leaves his friends and goes to the sea and the islands that it contains. More happens after that but it would ruin the story.

He is an easy going individual with simple wants but is more than he realizes. Throughout the story it is seen that he is naive about the world and seems at times rather dim but also has several redeeming factors.

All Remorphs have this basic look, bald with a little tail and wings. Also gills on the neck but they do not work in their natural form.

Now for the beast in the background, it is called a Gaartric. It is a massive space-traveling creature. It is about 200 feet tall and though it is hardly seen in the book, it has a strong presence when it does and has a special connection to Jericen.
