Orichalcos Ritual
Ritual Spell
This card can be used to Ritual Summon “Wraith King of the North”, “Swift Goblin of the South”, “Wicked Tree of the East”, or “Dark Orc of the West”. You must also tribute monsters from either side of the field whose total levels are equal to or greater than the Ritual monster you are attempting to summon. You cannot conduct your Battle Phase during the turn you activate this card. Spells, Traps, and Effect Monsters’ effects cannot be activated in response to this card’s activation.
So this is one of the fanmade cards I created for the fanfic I'm currently working on, GX: Dark Queen of Miator. As you can see it's a Ritual Spell, so it summons certain Ritual Monsters that are also of my own creation. I was originally planing to not submit this until I had finished the illustrations for at least one of the Ritual monsters that this card summons, but this drawing has been sitting in my computer for at least a month now, so I thought I'd go ahead and submit it. Further details about this drawing are spoilers for my fanfic, so if you haven't read it yet and want to be surprised, avoid reading this next part until you've read the story.
SPOILER
So this is the common Ritual Spell used in the story by the Four Witches, the OCs I came up with to serve Tamao in her plans to remake the world. I should do drawings of those characters at some point. I didn't want them using copies of The Seal of Orichalcos because I didn't think it'd be very original. Plus I wanted for Jaden to duel at least one of them more than once. It then occurred to me that Ritual monsters have never been used very much in the anime past the original series. So I decided to have each of the Four Witches use a different Ritual monster that was summoned by the same super powerful Ritual Spell. I also decided that each Ritual monster would be based on an evil creature that appeared in The Lord of the Rings. But I'll go into that more when I post the illustrations of the monsters. I also had the idea that this Ritual Spell should allow the player to use monsters on both sides of the field so that it could parallel Jaden's Super Polymerization. There actually is a real Ritual Spell card that allows the player to use monsters on both sides of the field, but it has a bigger catch and is also from the 5D's era. Plus I thought the Ritual Spell should connect to the Orichalcos in some way.
SPOILERS END
The original illustration for this card was an alter in between two torches lit with bluish green flames, but I didn't really think it worked. I thought it should be another magic circle like The Seal of Orichalcos. In the end it I based the design a little bit on the transmutation circles used in Fullmetal Alchemist. I'm not a huge fan of Fullmetal Alchemist actually. I didn't like the original anime, but I did like Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. I had a hard time coming up with a way to give the circle a faint glow, but then I got the idea to use a transparent gradient layer over the image. Enjoy.
